Guess it depends on what you consider a gift. I buy my friends drinks, diner, pick up the cost of tickets to the game etc. all the time. May not call them gifts but that is what they are. In terms of buying your way into peoples pants take a look at the quality of women that most NASCAR drivers are married to...that tells the whole picture right there. Rich Hillybillys married to hot young starlets.
Also, some people are Groupies, G B!
And, Groupies don't always go for material gifts.
A groupie is a person who seeks emotional and sexual intimacy with a musician or other celebrity or public figure. "Groupie" is derived from group in reference to a musical group,[1] but the word is also used in a more general sense, especially in casual conversation. The word "groupie" is commonplace, a derisive term used to describe a particular kind of female fan assumed to be more interested in sex with rock stars than in their music.[2]
"The rich alone use imported articles, and on these alone the whole taxes of the General Government are levied. ... Our revenues liberated by the discharge of the public debt, and its surplus applied to canals, roads, schools, etc., the farmer will see his government supported, his children educated, and the face of his country made a paradise by the contributions of the rich alone, without his being called on to spend a cent from his earnings." ~ The Chief Author of our Declaration of Independence
