It would not help. The BOE does not get involved in this type of decision. I like Dr. Fraker too.

EPHS reached its peak academically in the early 2000's when Marty Turner was principal. After he left it held on until about 2006. One of those years, the 9th grade class had the highest number of failures in years and that started the downhill slide.
Kim Fraker may help the school especially after Viness left the school. Let's hope SPHS gets a good one to take her place.

I may be the only one who feels this way, but Whitfield was HORRIBLE at East! You're right PCHS should have kept him!
Maybe East should have some of their assistants moved. How about starting with Musgrove?

@ yankee -I hear Musgrove is good. I know the kids don't like him, but I hear he handles discipline the way he is supposed to. I've heard Musgrove may be coming to South. So many rumors flying around though. I hope South gets a good one. The teachers there are great along with the support staff. It would be a shame if the school goes downhill after being so good. Prayers for South would be greatly appreciated!

Years ago we had Viness at Herschel Jones and all the kids loved him. He left and in return they got Larry Wilcox. Oh my goodness, you'd think the world was coming to an end.
After a short time, EVERYONE loved Mr. Wilcox. He has had offers to go to other school but had turned them down. We are no longer at Herschel of course but I can say that Mr. Wilcox was a wonderful principal.
I'd like to add that it's not just the staff and administration of the school that makes or breaks the school. Just like with anything else, it starts at home. I know a lot of kids from every school in Paulding and I can tell you that I see where most of the kids that attend East have parents that really have no clue what their kids are doing or where they are OR in other cases I know that the parents just don't care. They say they care, say they are close to their kids, have rules for their kids that they must follow, but the ones I have known for years, I have seen the kids being treated more as adults (the freedom allowed) by the parents. Well, there's your sign . . . . . . .

There's nothing to 'try' Lucky. I know these kids and the parents and have seen it with my own eyes.
Now in reference to 'yours', I have no idea and I didn't say ALL kids at East, did I?
Why so defensive if 'yours' is not one of them? You don't know who I know or what I have seen, seriously.

Why the hate towards EAST just because SPHS principal is going there? You singled out East and had nothing good to say about the school. I will be defensive when someone doesn't have a kid at that school and comes on here and says negative things about them.

My daughter will be a freshman at Ep next year. I'm Happy to hear so many like the new principal. Not that it matters, I plan to stop supervising and caring what my daughter does as soon as she steps foot in that school. *Sarcasm*.
If they laugh at you because you're different, laugh at them because they're all the same.

A change is needed for sure, but new leadership should really make a difference.

I think she was a strong supporter of the Fine Arts (including band, drama , chorus and art) and good supporter of the athletics. Her first administrative job was as an assistant at East under Whitfield. Then she went to HJMS as principal and then principal at SPHS.

So, MOST parents at East have no clue about their own kids and don't care? MOST? That is such an ignorant statement. There are parents at all schools that don't care, even yours, not just East Paulding.

Amazing! For over a month now I have kept away from P.com because of what my family was going through. I get back on today and am BLASTED again with the very reason I stayed away.
Key Board courage is what it is called. People will get on here and hide behind their names and say things that they would NEVER dream of saying in person!
You do NOT know every kid that goes to East -- I'd even go as far as say that you don't even know the MAJORITY of the kids there. Do not make a blanket statement about all "most" of the kids that attend East - you don't even know "most" of those kids. That would be the same as racial profiling -- just sayin!
Let me just remind you that these are KIDS you are talking about. And, yes, for the record - I DO have 3 East Paulding students and regardless of what people think they may have OR MAY NOT have done ... I REMAIN AND ALWAYS WILL BE EXTREMELY PROUD OF MY CHILDREN, ANDREJ AND LORENZ SUTTLES AND DEVANTAE TERRELL!!! Just in case you didn't you who I am ... yep, that's me! Suttles Mama - and very proud of it!!!

Your very welcome! I admire you for coming on here and letting everyone know who you are, that is courage. Cowards are the ones spewing their ignorance behind screen names! This has been beat to death, people need to let it go. "Adults" can be bullies as well as any kid on the schoolyard. Sad that they don't have anything better to do than to bash these kids. Like you said, the ones bashing probably don't even know them.

there are so many things I want to say but I'd be kicked off of here permanently, You know I love and adore your family. Those boys are some of the sweetest most respectful young men I have ever met, nothing will change that. They have very bright futures ahead of them, you have every right to be proud!

Funny--I had a kid at East and now North. One of the things I liked better about East was that the kids were treated more as young adults than children. Maybe I'm a bad parent.

Amen!!!! I totally agree with you, not about the bad parent comment the other stuff. I had one grad. from East in 2010 and he was ready for college now I have one at North and they aren't as prepared.
The kids that grad w/ my son at East and had AP calc. w/ Ms. Miller got right into college calc. (not pre calc. or algebra) and didn't even have to go to Calc. 1 classes and made A's without having to go to class. Now the ones that grad. north last yr.are struggling in college Calc.
As for bashing East... When my son started there in 06/07 it was ranked 17th in state academically I don't know if South has even been ranked in the top 100.
Also, every teacher that I know that has taught at South tell me the behavior problems are horrible and all the substitutes I talk to that also sub at East High and North High tell me the same story about subbing at South. So I guess no where is perfect...

I don't think the move has anything to do with anyone messing up at East. Fraker is a nice enough person but South is in need of some discipline. I have not heard who is taking her place but I will bet it is someone who is a strong disciplinarian with a really thick skin. I imagine whoever it is will have a tough time at first, kinda like Segers did at PCH. I don't envy them at all.
