I am one of the individuals whose trash service was bought out by American Disposal. I am sorry, but $18.00 a month is crazy. I may have to just start bringing it to work to throw in the dumpster.

We use Paulding Waste & LOVE THEM!!!

I know, crazy, but it's true. They have taken everything we have set out - Chairs, Tables, Large Toys, Extra Bags.... anything. We pay $60 a quarter - but we have 2 cans. Not really sure how much 1 can is but I know that it is less.

I now use Waste Industries and have had no troubole with them, I reported American Disposal to the Better Business Bureau as they never picked up my trash, and when I called to cancel my service they were trying to charge me a $20 cancellation fee ( I never signed a contract with them, my previous trash company was bought out ) I tried to tell them this, and there response was they will take me to collections, after I reported them to the BBB they decided to wave the cancellation fee.

I second this... be firm with them. Let them know that you will not pay money to cancel service that they have not given. Let them know you will not just roll over and be threatened into paying money you never signed a contract of agreement.

If they threaten you, ask to have a supervisor put on the line, and tell her you never had a contract, they do not have your signature on file - just because they bought the old business out does not lock you into a contract you never made with American Disposal.

Then be prepared to have it take 3 or more months of billing to get it taken care of. :(:angry2: Ask to have a written agreement that your account is "current" and a "zero balance." The will report you past due even when you cancelled before you had used the last of your payment for the month! :nea:

The will also charge you until they get their "can" back - even when they neglect to pick it up. They did not do this to me, but I know of families they did do it to.

There are many threads about American Disposal on paulding.com from last summer. At that point they took over more routes than they could service, changed the crews that picked up before, even though they used the old trucks that were our first provider, and the new crews could not seem to remember what houses needed service.

Many of us waited weeks to have our trash picked up - even though we were told, "Oh, we will be there tomorrow." They would skip whole subdivisions.

I wish you luck. It has been almost a year, maybe they are better. At the time the only contact phone number was up in Virginia - I think.

Does he pick up in the New Ga area? Do you have a number for him? I think that I will also call Paulding Waste and see if they p/u out here too. Thanks everybody for your suggestions.
