So, I built her a gardener's workbench or potting bench and it came out wonderful, although it was a bit of an ordeal getting it from the workshop to the garden.
It is a little over 4' wide and 2' deep, 30" workbench surface height with the cement stepping stones under the legs. There are 2 slide in plastic totes under the bench top to collect the soil that falls through the square holes in the worktop, removable from either end.
A 6" deep 4' long shelf is at eye level and has a cedar shake roof over it. For fertilizer, gloves, sevin dust, etc. A plywood back under the shelf will have hooks for her trowels, spades, clippers, etc.
The back side has a 2x8 shelf 4' long for stacking clay pots, etc.
And one end has a pivoting arm and bracket for hanging baskets at an ergonomic work height but where they can hang down without breaking.
The back legs are a 4x6 ripped in half, and the front legs are landscaping timbers. The plastic work top is a piece of poultry breeder house flooring, and the catch boxes for the soil are polyethelene chick boxes with a piece of landscaping fabric in the bottom.
All Polyethelene, cedar, and/or pressure treated pine. It weights about 150-200 pounds. And we have a cement paver under each leg.
Anyone interested in purchasing one of these let me know. Wood cost was reasonable but I had a good solid 20 hours in it.
