Sometimes money isn't the deciding factor. And if years later you don't regret your decision, you made the right one. Besides, Subby is a very busy man person right now! :yahoo: And that makes two of us!

There's not a day goes by I don't think the same thing, and I hear it from friends and family constantly. Fact is, it's simply a matter of being at the right place at the right time. When I turned down playing with Doug Stone, I did so because I did not want to be on the road for 9 months a year while I had babies to raise. I also had a rather good job. If I could go back in time, I wouldn't have changed a thing.

There are a lot of business people, Animal, who are to lazy to work, and hire other people to work in their place. They have to rely on OPW (other people's work) to survive. But then, there are a lot of people people who are to lazy to work and don't have the money to hire Other People to Work. So they don't survive on OPW. You will see a lot of those people, in homeless places.

Look at banks, and wall street executives, they use OPM, Other Peoples Money to survive on, and to make profit off of. It takes money to make money, so they just use OPM. Posted Image

When it gets right down to it, isn't all money other people's money? You work and get paid but that's not YOUR money. You only get to use it.

All the more reason I decided to go it alone. The economy sucks, no doubt. But there remains ONE constant, that will prevail no matter what- give people their money's worth, be fair and honest, and be VERY GOOD at what you do. You do those things, then you cannot fail!! ;) I can't say you'll get rich, but you can sure as heck gain a lot of job security. The worst thing you can do is underestimate the intelligence of your customers. They may not know a lot about the trade you're in, but most all people know enough to understand what's a good deal and what's not. When they get screwed over somewhere, they'll never go back again. If they get a good deal or good service, they'll come back to you every time.....and refer you all over the place. Reputation is much more important than profit, even if profit is necessary to feed yourself. There is NO PLACE for laziness in success. That's like mixing oil and water.....not gonna work.

When I do my independent contract civil engineering work for companies, my main concern is not how much I can make, but the quality of my work, and using my experience to make more efficient designs that can save my clients thousands of dollars.....yes, thousands of dollars. You do that, then the client will gladly shell out bonus money for saving them a small fortune.

I think you are right, in a way, S & D's N!

Goods and services are worth more than paper, to me. Some people rely so much on paper with a green back that goods and services mean very little to them and they do none of the goods and services work. So they use OPM (Other People's Money), and OPW (Other People's Work). And, they don't do anything but collect paper, for a living, and Other People even does that for them. Posted Image

OPC, was Other People's Cigarettes, when I used to smoke. Bums used to say; "can I bum a cigarette off of you? Well, I have noticed that those people are still bumming cigarettes, but not from me.

Georgia legislators bum OPM, like the [people who used to bum cigarettes off of me, and to this day are still bumming OPC! .Posted Image

I agree with two of the statements in the poll this topic is about.

I voted that employers who offer good benefits and a good workplace have no problem getting good employees

But, I also agree with the fact that employers can't find employees because they disrespect employees and consider them expendable

I notices, too, that these two statement is the most popular among the votes. Then, I realized that although I get criticized a lot, regarding my demeanor, I am more like the majority of you'll than you'll might think. Posted Image

Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get.

But, Forest got many people to think; it's not talent or a gifted birth, and it's not money that determines worth. Forest had a good ATTITUDE.

Was it Jenny, who said "RUN FOREST RUN," who helped Forest's attitude?
