It is really simple. The topic is about the economy and I am posting my opinions about the economy (please refer to my above post).

I am simply of the opinion that our economy would be much better off right now if it hadn't been for Obama and his failed economic policies.

The thread is about consumer confidence. If you want to talk about the politics, go start your own thread. That is what your before. Your own words. My link

Once again, this thread has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with Obama - please be respectful of everyone else on this site and start your own thread in the political forum. This thread concerns a local issue and has nothing to do with Obama.

I assure you that I am not saying that you don't have a right to your opinion because you do. I am simply asking you to be respectful of others and start your thread in the appropriate forum. Thank you.

I can eat out every now and then with friends, but I buy less at the grocery store when I do. I also do not plan any vacations for Spring Break and/or this summer. Maybe I will get to go fall break when I can catch unbelievable deals. I have been wanting to buy a new car, but I've put it off for several years, hoping that next year will be better...but it won't...see my previous post. I also have refrained from buying many of the new gadgets other people enjoy.

I have a family member who's family chooses to rarely eat out, but puts that money into other things.

It is about choices, and with our economy, instead of doing all of the above as we used to do, we are having to choose either/or.

It will get better! I know it's tough. I went for a year without work and my husband was cut back to only 3 days a week at one point. But it has turned around and it will for everyone at some point.

What you do is vitally important to out next generation. Don't give up! We need you!

BUT, maybe there are others that have differing opinions than yours.

I didn't realize we were not allowed to post our opinions in ANY thread here on p.com that might be different from the opinion of the originator of the thread.

Has nothing to do with your opinion. The thread is not about politics. If you can't view anything someone says without politics getting in the way, you need some help.

I do find it quite hypocritical that I can quote YOUR OWN WORDS and you have two sets of standards. If YOU don't like what someone says about politics, YOU castigate them. But then you turn around and do the same thing you condemn? Hypocrite.

The "exit" remark was a quote from MrDis. I find it amazing you wouldn't say anything to him about that remark but you do to me? The hypocrisy gets even brighter.

The economy and politics are hopelessly intertwined. Further if you would let someone have an opinion other than the one you have, it might be a little friendlier.:pardon:

I just pointed out that your assertion that it wasn't getting better is not backed up by the numbers. I also pointed out that the article you quoted didn't support your conclusions. No problem with your opinions but you are not entitled to your own facts. Your situation is not the norm for everyone and you were presenting your situation as if it was the norm.

Things aren't getting better and they won't get any better until big money knows Romney is going into office. Sorry, but these people aren't going to let Owebama have any credit. Personally, I don't care for either, all I care about is ME.

Ok. let's do a quick head count here.

Everyone check in with your answer to "is the economy getting better for you?" if you please.

I say for me "NO" in general "stable" for the moment.

The economy is crappy, will it ever get better? who knows.
Perhaps it would help if our so called leaders in DC could/would actually pass a budget.

The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can't pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies… America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.Senator Barack Obama

If some people actually have to go to work. and stop barking orders for someone else to do the work, they are going to think the economy is crappy. Posted Image

Gas prices usually go up until late May as the refineries switch over to the more expensive summer blends (thank you EPA). However, if Iran decides to block the Strait of Hormuz, as they have already threatened to do, or Israel strikes directly against Iran, that could easily push gas prices to double or possibly cause a repeat of the rationing that we saw back in the 70's. At least then the economy was cranking along pretty well but with today's fragile economy, global as well as domestic, it could very well be a tipping point for us.

The economy was cranking along pretty well the last time we had gas rationing? In the 70s? Are you drinking tonight? The economy was cranking along pretty well at that time? That is the funniest thing I've heard in 3 weeks!

Yes. My bonus at work was fat, along with a raise. Business is absolutely booming (telecom/broadband). I know only one unemployed person while others I know are leaving stable jobs for greener pastures as demand has increased in several industries. My 401k and other investments have not only made up the ground they lost from the recession but have made further gains. Fortunately we make enough money that an extra $10-20 on fuel or groceries pretty much goes unnoticed so, from our vantage point, those price increases aren't looked upon as a big deal or emblematic of a "down economy". I'm looking to get some work done on my house and, so far, neither of the two contractors I've called have called me back which I can only believe means that they're slammed with business.

Nah zoocrew, that is the funniest thing I have heard in over 30 years. Where were these folks when construction was nearly extinct here in 75 and 76?

You show me just one time that I have referred to myself as a lawyer on p.com. I have not. I have been involved in the legal community in the Atlanta area for 32 years. I have never pretended to be a lawyer - if I had wanted to be a lawyer, I would have simply gone to law school, passed the Bar exam and become a lawyer.

When someone has a legal issue and you chime in with, "I've worked in the legal industry for 30 years and ...", you're acting as if you're a lawyer. You're not. It's like a janitor telling parents how to get their kids to do homework because, ya know, they've been in the educational system for 30 years.

country. This means that I'm not a liberal; it means you're an extremist.

Does anyone else see this lady as harassing me on every post I make? Please put me on ignore, Beach Bum. If my posts cause you so much angst that you follow me around in my threads, just put me on ignore. I don't appreciate being stalked on the internet.

It is the internet zoocrew. I will post as I see fit (within the standard rules and regulations of p.com). I've never stalked anyone in my life and never been accused of such until now.

How about this - if you don't like my rebuttals to your posts, you put me on ignore and then your problems will be solved.

Why should I have to step aside when you're the one stalking my posts?

I am feeling harassed. Please stop. Put me on ignore. Please.

They may be living in an RV park because they got foreclosed on their house and the RV is the only thing they own.

If you think that what I saw this weekend was an inexpensive way to live, you are waaayyyy off base and in any case I do believe their rigs would be repossessed before their houses got foreclosed on.
Buy American! We are all in this together so BUY AMERICAN!!!

When someone has a legal issue and you chime in with, "I've worked in the legal industry for 30 years and ...", you're acting as if you're a lawyer. You're not. It's like a janitor telling parents how to get their kids to do homework because, ya know, they've been in the educational system for 30 years.

I have worked in the legal industry for 30 plus years as a paralegal and not once have I indicated that I am a lawyer. I have over the last 30 years of my being in the profession, gained some legal knowledge - there would be a problem if I had not, right? :)

Go back and look at my posts concerning legal advice - you will find that I tell people seeking legal advice here on p.com that they should seek legal advice from a licensed attorney. I have never once in my professional career been fired, laid off or accused of the unauthorized practice of law.

And RV sales are up considerably. Doesn't look like the bad economy is a problem with the RV community. My link

I'm feeling harassed by your posts also. You are no better than I am zoocrew and it is equally bad if I feel I am being harassed and stalked by you. And I am now feeling that way.

I am glad things are going good for you. We have had 3 fire fighters resign in the last month. That may not mean much to you but when a professional fire fighter leaves a county like Cobb, without being asked to, that really goes a LONG way to indicating the moral issues with the employees. I can only personally remember 2 in the 15 years before this year. Retirement is not the same. We have one on our crew that has been there for 5 years. That doesn't mean much except that we have not had a pay raise in 5 years and it means he has not ever had one since he started. The PD is even worse. I have already given all our cost increases so I will not bore you. Suffice it to say we all have LOST roughly 15% in pay since 2007. That is because $100 then would need $109.80 today to buy the same items and our pension and insurance increases. I have many friends and coworkers and most are saying they see the same things in their jobs. I truly believe your case is the exception and not the rule. Out of my sibling group, my wife and both BILs lost their jobs over a year ago. One from IBM, One from sales and one from Banking. My wife is the only one to find a new FT job at a 20% reduced wage and a much greater commute. The one from IBM has only managed to find a PT I.T. job and the other has not found a new job at all. There is quite a bit of variety in our group over all and the odds of job loss and recovery should not be skewed from the norm.

With that said, I will agree that the economy is no longer in a freefall and has stabilized. BUT to me there are many indicators that say if we maintain any growth we will be extremely lucky and that the chances are significant that many more families will "crash" economically due to market forces that are already or may be soon to come into play. And if that happens then there will be a significant loss to the consumer spending side tht accounts for roughly 70% of our economy.

But heck just go ahead and call me a pessemist if you like. Personally I have never been a half full or empty kind of guy. I prefer to say only that I have half a glass.

That link takes you to one of my links not anything about RV sales. I wonder how many folks are living in those RVs now instead of a home?
