If they laugh at you because you're different, laugh at them because they're all the same.

My "strange addiction" has been featured on this show. I have trichotillomania. I pull my hair out, i've been doing it since I was 12. I try not to judge these people too much, although some of it seems completley nuts.
Thanks for sharing. That must be stressful for you.
I've heard of that. Some of the things featured on the show I haven't---like the woman growing her nails so long and a girl drinking nail polish, etc.
Like I asked in my first post; on the shows are there any therapists that offer any explanations?

I've seen a few of the episodes. They are pretty insane. Yes, they do have doctors/therapists who come on and try to explain the dangers of their addictions.
Do they offer any insight into why they do those kinds of things?

That picture makes me sick. I hate toenails anyway and that is just gross. How does she walk?!

The Water Giver: "Motherhood is about raising and celebrating the child you have, not the child you thought you'd have. It's about understanding he's exactly the person he's supposed to be. And if you're lucky, he might be the teacher who turns you into the person you're supposed to be."

There were a few with women eating cigarette ashes, toilet paper, Comet cleaner, laundry detergent, soap......I just felt so bad for them imaginging what they were doing to their insides and them thinking they can't stop.

My Mom lives in another state, is retired and has lived alone since my Dad passed away 8 years ago. I phone her each evening and we talk about different things. For years we each watched Monk on Friday nights and then we would talk on the phone the next day about the episode; anything we thought should have been done differently, etc. She likes to watch investigative shows mostly, Dateline NBC, etc. One day she said that she wondered if anything good was going to be on that night. (She used to subscribe to TV Guide but doesn't now.) I told her I would look online and see. So now she likes for me to tell her what's coming on in her area on the different channels---so that's how I know about them. I cancelled my Comcast Cable TV service over a year ago and only watch a few shows that I get online: Revenge, some old Alfred Hitchcock shows and a few others.

I'm not sure how much they dove into WHYthey carry out their addictions; it seemed to be more about how they were hurting themselves. I've only seen about 2 of the episodes, though, and they do 2 segments in each episode.
