Thank goodness for the kid that told the parent and the parent that took this threat seriously.
Today could have turned out much differently if that call had not been made.
Thank you to the SO for acting so quickly.
You are correct. Just most of them "look" troubled and he looks happy.
Just my opinion.
I am VERY glad that this was thwarted.
If he had had longer hair and maybe was sporting a nose ring, black t-shirt or trench coat, that would have made more sense I assume? That was Columbine, since then, i'd say the majority of school shooters have looked like "all American boys"
Stereotypes get on my nerves.
ETA- it's a shame I have to use the word "shooters". WTH is wrong with kids? I'm sick of it.

today is tomorrow's yesterday.
If they laugh at you because you're different, laugh at them because they're all the same.

Sorry that I offended you.
Stereotypes are a way of life sadly.
It is MY OPINION that the boy does not "look" like a killer.
That does NOT mean that he is not and I am beyond happy that the threat was taken seriously.
Just most of them "look" troubled and he looks happy.
I think he looks like a smart-arse. I've seen a couple of smirking mug shots lately, and if I were their parent, that would just SEND me. However, I suspect something is amiss in this young man's family life if he's to the point of shooting up a school (or threatening to).

YES, MA'AM. I personally would start with the home life of kids who do stuff like this, but then somebody would accuse me of stereotyping. Not saying it's the parents' fault...as we have seen on this board in the past couple of days, people who are doing their very best to be good parents sometimes run into really bad situations. All I'm saying is that his home life likely is not optimal, whatever the reason.

I think that we should be way more outraged over this than the EPHS crime.
Yes, EPHS was a crime and should have had attention.
BUT it went on for days with thousands of views and comments.
This kid made serious threats and the topic is dormant.
I have not remarked because there is not enough information, he is very young and all we know is he is a little old to be a freshman. Is he really troubled or was he venting his frustration on FB.
We definitely want LE to take this seriously, so I have no objection to that.
We just don't have much info about what was said.
I surely don't want to be a part of making negative remarks about his age and grade.
He also has a family to be considered, we have seen the pain parents go through with teens that get i trouble.
I hope if the kid needs help he gets it.

You make great and valid points.
At the same time tho we did not have any "real" information about the kids at EPHS when we all went crazy on here, myself included.
My point is that I as a parent am more concerned that a child threatened children than I am that a child destroyed things with paint.

How the hell are you 17 years old and only a freshman?
Obviouslly the kids needs help, hope he gets it.

He is probably the victim of bullies that probably give him a hard time about that.
People, and especially teens of this age can be particularly relentless and cruel. When they find a vulnerability they work it, work it, and work it just to see if it can be forced to pop.
I suspect they were within hours of seeing it go 'pop'.

I wonder if he is a special needs student, since he is 17 and a freshmen.
Dustin is a really a sweet kid, says one of his friends, another friend says it was taken out of context, post have been removed, and his friends are supporting him on his fb page. officer Henley said the threats were very detailed
Dustin has been charged with Terrorist threats. and the SO takes these threats very serious.

I noticed on a few cars today when I was picking up my son that they had "Free Dustin" written on their cars. I bet there would be a different thought if this was posted not reported and it happened.
Just got an advisory that Dustin Wade England, the individual that made threats to shoot students at Hiram High School earlier in the week, will be bonding out of the Paulding County Detention Center with a $7900.00 bond.
His status as a student is a matter in the realm of the schools.

I wonder after a couple of days of incarceration if he is still grinning like he was in the mug shot? That smirk just irks me every time I see it.
