Yeah, it died right along with Justice. Politicians who pay out $1.3milllion in county funds just to protect a developer and keep a citizen out of court over a lawsuit that 6 years ago could have been settled of $50,000.

First we need to vote on paying for a race track. If it gets voted down, that means nobody is ever allowed to build a racetrack in the county, even with outside funds.

Actually I'd say they are related. Just further proof how the folks in office raped and pillaged from the citizens they were suppose to represent.

Where do you get that information? One doesn't have to equal the other. I'll point you to the Detroit Casino projects as proof. The citizens voted down using tax money to assit in building them, three years later they were built with private funds.

Surepip can start his own damn thread about this. Stop highjacking other threads.
I think markdavd was being a bit coy with remark.

Actually, that was a reference to the folks who believe that when they voted against PAYING for an airport, they voted against ever having one put in the county.
As it stands the FAA, who paid for the airport, will never allow it to be used as a race track.

Surepip your comments are welcomed on my screen. Your updates give me good ammunition for discussion each time I bump into a commissioner out in the community. I think your situation and many others are in direct comparison. Citizen's tax dollars spent on private agendas and pet projects without public accountability are important issues. Personally I feel your situation and the millions of local tax payer dollars spent at the airport are similar occurances.
I remember seeing the developer on your project and a former commissioner eating lunch together one day. My thought was ___ & ___ eating lunch together, can only mean our taxes are getting ready to go up.

That would be correct at this time.
BUT, in a year or so when it is foreclosed on due to no revenue somebody can buy it for a race track.

From what I understand we are stuck with King Jerry's personal landing strip. If we walk away from the airport we (local taxpayers) are on the hook for around $50 to $55 million in federal and state grants. So meantime we have no choice but to make the best of it as an airport. Maybe there was a good reason no one else in our state had built a regional airport in the last 30 + years.
Remembering King Jerry's interview in the AJC "it's like free money, not one penny of local tax money spent". Liar, liar, pants on fire... about a million per year local tax money from the county spent each year for 4 years prior to his interview.

Thanks!
What many do not seem to understand, is if they, the same "they" who did an end around on the airport, TajMahal, School Bond Vote, etc., etc.; are allowed to keep sidestepping the LAW, in order to do whatever it is they want to do, they will indeed keep doing so.
We have tried to hold them accountable.
In our case it was a matter of letting the developer simply TAKE property which we owned, and for what it is worth, still are paying taxes on [Yes, we are paying taxes on the entire paved roadbed in front of our house plus the first 2-1/2 feet ACROSS the street!] and then totally ignoring the zoning stipulations as granted to us in the original zoning hearings and subsequent zoning hearings where we have accused them of zoning fraud.
Not to mention the cover-up when they contaminated out water and then looked the other way when the Paulding County Water Department knowingly filed false reports about our comtaminated water [Cobb Water is who tested and confirmed it was indeed contaminated] with the State EPD.
All citizens have a 1st Amendment RIGHT to seek redress against government. According to the BOC's attorney that is correct. But in that same breath, that attorney stated that any citizen wishing to do so needs to be prepared to spend $500,000 in order to achieve his day in court.
Is that right ?
Same argument for the death of democracy in Paulding, along with Justice not being served because the political puppeteers are still calling the shots, as they have been for many years. Call them Good 'Ol Boys, or whatever you want, but it is the same story.
It is OUR tax money being spent to keep our cases out of court, and where we are being denied our RIGHTS, and Justice, at the same time all the other citizens of Paulding are being denied the same.

Darn surepip. Last time I heard, the world nor Paulding County revolved around "you". I personally don't have a problem with the county and its officials standing up for what they feel is right - that is what we elected them to do. And furthermore, they do have all the facts to work with.
As for the airport, I say let's just sit back and watch what happens. It was built with FAA "free funds" and operates at a very minimal costs to our citizens and was built during a very sluggish economy. Time will tell............. I personally like it when our county officals look to the future for tax revenue and are forward thinking. It is a positive thing to look toward the future!

You know I get really tired of all this "king Jerry" crap. If you think he alone did all this you are very wrong. There are still many right here in this county pulling the same strings and they get the use of the playground. Always shocks me that so many blame one person and even after that person is gone and the others left behind they fail to see that the person gone could not have done anything without others support.

Apparently you don't have a pot to pee in that the county can come in and say, "We don't give a crap about you OR what we did to your property boy, grab your ankles!" When a person is still living with the problems brought on by a group of county officials, who bowed and did the bidding of one non-official (translated... a mere citizen like you and me) he has not only A right but THE right to be mad until the county makes "IT" right! AND he also has the right to relate every county injustice he sees happening, to his own! So go blow dude! However, if you were one of the county officials, who bowed and did the bidding of the mere citizen/non-official, SPEAK UP and REVEAL THYSELF!
Just REMEMBER this - TO DATE our County has spent $1.3 Million to avoid paying him $50,000 in order that he might repair the foundation of his house after THEY dynamited the property surrounding his home to build yet ANOTHER cookie cutter subdivision.

The FAA doesn't have any money. The only way they "pay" for anything is by borrowing money and making the payments by taking money from me. So I want my racetrack now. it'll cost about 10 dollars in paint for new lines drawn on the runway. We can get "seniors 2012" to do the painting for cheap.
