However, if you really think about it, it does make some sense to have the Mexican tomatoes with the Mexican food and the Italian tomatoes with the spaghetti and other Italian foods.
I was shocked they had the little "Buddy" walker/chairs, canes and some blood pressure and/or oxygen monitors. I need to pick me up a cane that I can leave in my tote bag.

The prices are good. The milk is $1.99. I saw how they brand it with their name to look like the "NameBrand". It's not hard to figure out.
But what I want to know is how do you find where the food COMES FROM?
I read the labels of everything I picked up and all it said was "Distributed by Aldi Batavia, IL".
So how do you know where the food comes from? Is it safe to assume it's manufactured in the US?
I think the prices are great and if their "NoName" is as good as the brand that I buy then I will shop there.
BTW, I got the strawberries for $.79 and they are good and sweet, and I got a pineapple for $.99. Haven't cut it yet. That's a great price, especially if you make smoothies!!

You may want to nab one of those in the next few days. That may fall into their 'special' category of things that they don't stock regularly.
I just got back from there myself. The parking lot was pretty full, but I lucked up and got a place close to the door. I didn't buy much - just a sampling of some things to see how we like 'em. Apparently they don't carry 1% milk, which is a little disappointing, but my husband can make do with 2% occasionally.

Did you know that Eggo products are made in Douglasville? At least I think it is Eggo. It might be Aunt Jemima.

I might stop by there tomorrow if I'm not totally exhausted after work tomorrow. Busy, busy, busy.
Parking lot was crowded today but didn't look completely full like it was on Thursday. I passed by around 11:30.

Well maybe it is in that part of Florida. I just know in South Florida we never picked before June. And, OMG there is nothing like a fresh picked right off the vine strawberry.

When all the brouhaha was going on about pet food, I looked at all of our dog's food and treats to see where they were made. I found one product that was made in Canada, but the rest just said 'Distributed by [XXX],' so I wrote to one of the companies (Del Monte) to see what they said. To their credit, I got this reply within a day:
It may be helpful for you to know that Federal regulations require a product to list the country of origin if it has been produced outside of the United States or one of its territories. So if one of our products does not specifically state the country of origin, then you can assume it was produced in the United States or a U.S. territory.

Thank you, that's kinda what I was thinking.
I've looked at food at other places (WholeFoods mayber??) and it has listed the country of orgin.
I may go back and try some things.

The chicken, beef, pork, etc., will have a plant number in teeny-tiny, itsy-bitsy letters, generally near the USDA seal. The chicken at Aldi had #6651. According to the USDA data base that is Tyson Foods in Shelbyville, Tennessee.
And I believe the USDA also requires any boxed/canned food sold here, or produce, which is NOT produced in the USA to say so very clearly on the label.
My strawberries I got were the best I've had this year. And they were not the HUGE ones like Kroger, but bitesize and sweet. I will get more.
I also noticed all the produce is prepackaged or sold by the piece, not the pound. Savings on not having to weight them.

At any rate, the ones I got from Aldi were very good. Big, juicy, sweet. Much better than most of them I bought last year at Kroger.

Lord knows, I don't want to argue about Florida and strawberries, but Plant City is east of Tampa.
Homestead would be South Florida and a lot of produce comes from there as well.

Thank you. Like I said we never got strawberries until June.
Also like I said I tried the Aldi in Kennesaw may years ago. I wasn't impressed then, and it would require going out of my way to go there.

Ours, too! I made strawberry shortcake, and the berries were sweet, juicy, YUMMY, and $.69 for a big carton.
I also bought 5# of grapefruit for $.99, one of which I had for breakfast this morning. It was SO GOOD! And there are 5 more left in the bag. At 16.5 cents each, I am plenty happy!

And I didn't even find any rotten ones. I paid $.79 today.
I'll go back and try some things. The prices are really good, it's just a different way of shopping.
And I think it's great the cashiers can sit down! WOW

It's just about the corner of Cleburne Parkway and Poplar Springs Rd as you
are leaving Hiram. IT's just before the Racetrac .
You enter it from 278 OR from Cleburne Parkway....
I live around the corner on Poplar Springs Road...so it will be very very
convenient for us.
WE did not go YET.
We NEVER go to a brand new place for the very first month--- we STAY AWAY.
Restaurant or store or whatever. We just don't do crowds well.

this is to find out where your milk is from. I just tried it on a gallon I got from ALDI yesterday and came back with Country Delite Farms in Nashville, Tn.
My hubby is from England and there the cashiers do not have scanners but have to memorize all the prices in the store.
The loaf bread was very fresh, my hubby got bologna and sliced cheese (since I introduced bologna sandwiches to him about a year ago I dont think he has gone more than 2 days without one) and said it was as good as what we get at Ingels. I liked the look of the talapia and plan to go back to get some. We will definately be shopping there again.

BTW, if I can save 40% on my grocery bill, I don't care if I have to unload the delivery truck myself. Food prices continue to go up, but our income does not.

Thanks for that. I was wondering where it came from.
It's good to know the milk comes out of Tennessee. Surepip said the chicken comes out of Tennessee as well , from Tyson I think he said.
