A 44-year-old Powder Springs man is in a medically induced coma at a Cobb County hospital after he was hurt in a fight outside a bar in Hiram, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Man in coma after bar fight
Dominick LePone has been in intensive care at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta since the Wednesday night incident outside Hiram Station on Atlanta Highway.
“He's in critical condition [and] could use your prayers,” LePone’s girlfriend, Sharon Alexander, told Channel 2.
Alexander said she and LePone stopped at Hiram Station to eat.
Police said LePone made a scene inside the bar and was asked to leave. Outside, the man got into a confrontation with some of the establishment’s workers and struck his head on the surface of the concrete parking lot.
A man who identified himself as Hiram Station’s owner told Channel 2 his employees were cooperating with police. He declined further comment.
“I don't understand why no one's been arrested. Why hasn't somebody been arrested?” Alexander said. “He's in there fighting for his life right now.”
Police told Channel 2 that they arrested a Hiram Station worker on an outstanding warrant but were still trying to sort out what happened Wednesday night.

I've never been to either place, but I do know one of the bouncers from Phoenix.

I thought all employees of these establishments in the City of Hiram were required to have criminal histories done on them by the City of HIram Police Department? oops, I guess checking who has been sending emails to the former mayor was more important!!!!
That place has always been a hole, irregardless of what day of the week, they frown on any patrons calling the police. By the time the police are called the incident has gotten way out of hand, and it is usually a customer that calls for help. I would be amazed if at any time any employee from that hole has called the police.
What a way for the new mayor to walk into and see what the City of Hiram is all about.

Common sense tells me they are checked at most once a year. Anything that pops up after the check would not be found.

Automobiles and their use are responsible for more pollution and other environmental destruction, including the largest share of the greenhouse gases that cause global warming, than any other human pursuit in the world. Cars also cause 40,000 human and 400,000,000 animal deaths every year in the US. Cars lead to suburban growth (= natural habitat destruction) and social isolation.

True. YEARS and YEARS ago when DH coached baseball we would go with a huge group of 8-10 yr old boys and parents on Tuesday nights after games for their steak special. It was REALLY good food at a great price. It is odd this happened this week because a couple of days ago a good friend posted photos on FB of her family going to Hiram Station for karaoke. I made a comment and she said "we have met a lot of really nice people there." Which, I have no doubt there are good people everywhere. BUT, I did not expect to see this particular family at HS.
Regardless of the circumstances to cause this man's injury I hope he has a full recovery.

However, I served and bartended part time for a few years until last year and whether or not employees had gotten their license was up to the owner(whether they enforced it). The standard where I worked was very strict on it mainly b/c we had a lot of government employees who frequented the bar and restaurant and you never knew when they would ask to see licenses. They(the County) didnt ask very often at all but we always had to get them ourselves and keep them filed there in the restaurant office.
I have serious doubts that too much of anything "good and lawful" is enforced in THIS bar. It was a big hassle for the owner but he did it anyway. Who knows who they have working there.

Drunk causes scene in bar and is asked to leave. Drunk will not leave without being physically walked to the door. Once outside drunk turns and rushes bouncer. Bouncer meets charge with two palms to the chest to keep drunk off of him. Drunk stumbles backward, falls and strikes his head on pavement. Girlfriend decides entire incident is bouncers fault, raises heck and calls police. Police arrive, big hassle, drunk goes to hospital, girlfriend demands to know why bouncer is not being arrested.
You'd be truly shocked how many times that turning around and charging thing happens, even when they are relatively quite on the way to the door.
I feel for the guy in this case, it's a shame when somebody ends up hurt that bad. And maybe he was entirely in the right this time, but I doubt it. Sometimes you pay a high price for your own stupitidy.

I happen to frequent THIS bar quite often and they are very strict on their policies of abiding by the law. How can You hold judgment on a place you don't go to. As far as alcohol permits, if any of y'all condemning the place were to go there you would see see them by the front door for all to see on plain sight. And as far as stripper poles the bar up front has 2,so you can't judge by that.

My husband used to play in the local pool league, ive spent time in both Hiram station, and what used to be spotlight. I have never once feared for my safety in either location. I'm not a drinker, and if my husband never played pool would never have steped foot in either place, but ive always found the workers and patrons to be friendly, maybe a little rough around the edges, but good people. There are the d bag exceptions, but you could find those at buffalo wild wings on any Friday night as well.

why would you assume that ALL employees of a place serving alcohol would have a background check? (servers only at a licensed business)

when there is an incident, talking to the police is not always in your best interest -- from several different directions: you want to keep your job, a civil liability stand point as well as potential criminal charges will keep some witnesses from coming forward.

When was the last time you went there? And why should the owner go visit the guy at the hospital? Would you feel sorry for the buy behind bars who was arrested for causing problems on his establishment because be was drink. If you heard the interview and read the article the guy was asked to leave and didn't want to. He was escorted outside and fell. Why arrest the bouncer for doing his job. Pure crazieness. Some people need to think before they speak. Just saying.

Where YOU there? Because I did read the article, watched the story, and it sure didn't sound like he "fell".
I like your spin on it though. Makes the thread entertaining, otherwise, there's no "news" about a fight at a dive like Hiram Station.
ETA: Am praying for the guy, though. I do hope he pulls through. And stops drinking.
