Unless you grind your own ground beef it most likely has pink slime in it. Pink slime used to only be used in dog food. It is a parts of the animal (cow) that is ammonia-treated to kill ecoli, and salmonella bacteria. Do you, and your family, enjoy your ground beef?

Pink slime is added to ground beef for economic purposes. Meat processors sell it without labeling the the ground beef that it contains up to about 25% pink slime.

You may be able to get your butcher to grind your beef right in front of you, but that is the only way to buy it without the strong possibility it contains pink slime.

Here's a video on Pink Slime, where McDonald's uses it to make hamburger meat, and chicken nuggets. But, now even our grocery stores sells it to us.

People in other countries are not sold what the American people are sold in their beef. Why do we pay for pink slime that restaurants want serve their customers in Canada, and in other countries?

Why do we not mind being ripped off like that, while some of us keep getting richer with proceeds from selling such as pink slime?Posted Image

Pink Slime For School Lunch: Government Buying 7 Million Pounds Of Ammonia-Treated Meat For Meals

Pink slime -- that ammonia-treated meat in a bright Pepto-bismol shade -- may have been rejected by fast food joints like McDonald's, Taco Bell and Burger King, but is being brought in by the tons for the nation's school lunch program.

So if I eat beef that's been ground by my local butcher I'm eating pink slime?

Should change title of topic to If you eat "factory processed and enhanced beef" of any form.

Oh food for thought, heh, didja know that when you eat you're eating the dead remains of something that was once alive?

Why do people in other countries get treated better than we do about our food, health, and a lot of other things? Do we just ignore the facts about how we are treated?

People are more likely to get angry at me for bringing it up in a public forum, than they are to get angry at the people who sell us things we buy that are hidden in the propaganda. They want even label the fact that pink slime is in our ground beef. Posted Image

I'm saying that if you don't watch your butcher grind your meat you don't know that he is putting pink slime in it for a filler. If he works for the store that sells you the meat, he puts it in there. If not his job could be at risk. Posted Image

West Metro is certainly an exception. Maybe they are not into the money making business, because it is perfectly legal for them to use as much as 25% pink slime without telling you a damn thing about it.

I've had enough of it the last few days.

I have two suggestions: Don't start and Don't retaliate. If you start with The Snippy, don't be surprised when it comes back at you. If you jump and bang the sabers each time someone says sumpin you don't like, don't be surprised when I stick you with a bullet.

Calm down. Have a drink. Enjoy pcom for a change.

Pink slime -- that ammonia-treated meat in a bright Pepto-bismol shade -- may have been rejected by fast food joints like McDonald's, Taco Bell and Burger King, but is being brought in by the tons for the nation's school lunch program.

McDonald’s and Others Will No Longer Use “Pink Slime” in Burger Recipes

Is there "pink slime" in your hamburger? If you're eating at McDonald's the answer is, not anymore. "Pink slime" may sound like a strange name for a cross between ketchup and mayo, but, in fact, it's a moniker for a scary-sounding chemical process used to create burger filler from previously inedible meat parts.

According to Food Safety News, McDonald's, along with other fast food chains such as Burger King and Taco Bell, has finally decided to stop the use of the ammoniated beef burger additive that had been dubbed "pink slime" — essentially fatty beef trimmings, otherwise inedible, that have been treated with ammonium hydroxide to kill bacteria. This process ultimately allows the beef trimmings to be turned into hamburger filler.

Some people take themselves way too seriously. Often. I saw the personal attacks. Not impressed. meow.

Anyway, I noticed today that my sons toaster strudel has "limited edition" purple icing for spring time. I know what's in the red dye used to make the purple icing, bug guts. And don't forget the maggots in the canned goods. ;)

Is it illegal, or just out of the kindness of these fast food restaurants hearts that they no longer use it, Rosa?

And, if their patties come from a meat packing house, how do they know? The meat processing people don't have to tell them that as much as 25% of the beef can very well be pink slime?

If I go to the grocery store right now and buy a pound of ground beef I could very well be buying as much as a quarter pound of pink slime, but I wouldn't know it. Posted Image

That's just gross. As a former meat cutter for Kroger, we never used "pink slime", we did use trimmings from the days beef to grind up at the end of our shift. It was sold as regular ground beef, but was as lean as ground chuck. For the record, West Metro buys the same meat that Kroger used to buy before they went to prepackaged meats. It is good quality meat that WM uses. It is true that if you want the best ground beef, go to a store that still cuts their own daily and pick out a nice roast or request a larger piece to be ground for you if you need very large quantities.
Stay away from the pink slime. ewwww
So you're not from the South, that's okay, you got here as fast as you could.

Some people actually don't care if Billy Bob, or Susie Que, eats pink slime, as long as they don't eat it themselves. I often wonder if their children is any more important to them than Billy Bob, or Susie Que!Posted Image

Allow me to change the subject just for a moment, raclay!

I saw a little Boston Terrier, like yours, picked up and killed by a Pit Bull, yesterday. I had never seen such a bloody massacre as I saw that day. I was on the other side of a tall fence, and could not help the little thing. It was terrible. I am still hurt over that incident.

Forgive me for sharing such a tragedy with you, but I just wanted you to know when I saw your little picture of the Boston Terrier.

"The rich alone use imported articles, and on these alone the whole taxes of the General Government are levied. ... Our revenues liberated by the discharge of the public debt, and its surplus applied to canals, roads, schools, etc., the farmer will see his government supported, his children educated, and the face of his country made a paradise by the contributions of the rich alone, without his being called on to spend a cent from his earnings." ~ The Chief Author of our Declaration of Independence

I have made more mistakes that you have, Gleemp, but you are not perfect though!Posted Image
