Just happens to be on DH day off so we'll stop by!! We go to the one in Acworth when are in the area. Some folks might not be impressed but the concept is successful. You have to bag your own groceries so take bags/boxes or you can purchase the ALDI reusable bags for $.10. You do have to put a quarter in the cart to use it but you get the quarter back when you return the cart to it's appropriate place. Therefore no payroll for guys to bag your groceries nor gather carts in the parking lot. Cuts expenses/cuts prices. They do not carry name brands - HOWEVER - they have contracts with many of the name brand companies to produce their merchandise. Same food, different label, another saving.
They have a lot of items that are exclusive to them that we actually go just to get. For instance, they have some of the best marinades for meats & veggies.
It isn't for everyone but we enjoy shopping there AND SAVING MONEY!!! We're looking forward to having one so convenient.

If I'm not mistaken, when Cub Foods came to Atlanta, you had to bag your own groceries there too.

Dogs may not be our whole lives, but they make our lives whole.
A dog is not "almost human" and I know of no greater insult to the canine race than to describe it as such.
The more I see of humans, the more I admire dogs.
He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader.
He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.
The dog is a gentleman, I hope to go to his heaven, not man's.

I haven't looked at the newspaper today. Are the produce prices the same as the online ad? The online ad for the Douglasville store has strawberries for .79 a package and navel oranges for $1.49 for a 4lb. bag plus several other good buys.

Not really. You will find that their produce is a VERY GOOD PRICE. I venture to the one behind Cumberland at least once a week and pick up bell peppers and such. I have getting the 3 pack of colored peppers for less than $2.00!!!

Does anyone know how much of their produce comes from the USA?
Do they have anything that is organic?

I got out my AJC and looked at the ad after posting.
On the back of the ad there is a coupon for $5 off a minimum purchase of $30 at the Hiram store. Limit one per family.

I know some urban stores (and many European) have a rental+deposit that you get back when you return the cart to the kiosk inside the store when you're done. But that's not isolated to Aldi stores.

At Aldi, you pay a quarter to "unlock" the cart. When you return the cart and relock it, you get your quarter back.
I think it's a great idea. People are given incentive to take the cart back to the cart holder instead of leaving it out in the parking lot where it gets in the way and someone has to go and collect it.

It is a great idea. I've seen either a Publix or Kroger in town Atlanta that had that. And had friends that lived in England who would use the cart to take their shopping to their flat then walk back later that evening with the cart to return it to the store to get their deposit back.

We had a very old Aldi back in my town in New York State.
Their produce was never fresh...
I used to go for the holidays to get all my baking supplies..at much cheaper prices..
and snacks for road trips in the summer etc.
It was an old store....not well stocked.
Im looking forward to THIS brand new one here in Hiram...for one reason..we live
literally..right around the corner on Poplar Springs Road..so it will be extremely convenient
for us !!

I believe this is how most stores contract their instore brands. Not all beans can be a Bush's Baked bean, but they have no problems cooking and canning up the second run quality beans and shipping them in bulk to the store distributors to be labeled and sold as store brands. Walmart is known to be cut-throat at this making manufacturers compete against themselves under the great value brand in order to just get their products on the shelves. I mean if you ever shopped at the "Beast" you've had that moment when you're standing in the aisle going "#$%@@!!! Where did that *product I like* go?? They used to carry it just 2 weeks ago!!! Arrgh!". That's because Walmart will churn your butt right off the shelves, for many reasons, but one of the main being that they'll pull products where the manufacturers won't compete with themselves.
I've never shopped at Aldi so seeing that everything is under an Aldi label at the stores?
And I assume it's actual name brand quality?
