I have a dog that I like to walk. on a leash. i have neighbors who like to take walks. there is a pit bull in the hood that used to run loose pretty much every morning as though his owner just let him out the front door. there's also a german shepard that runs loose pretty regularly. both have chased people and me personally. I made it my mission to call AC every damn time I saw them out. I also took pictures when I could grab my camera in time. i sent a big ass email with a report and all my pictures of the pit bull to a chick at AC because they can never get here in time to actually see the dogs running loose. That's all I can do animal control wise.but I'll be damned if I'll put up with not being able to walk my neighborhood because I'm afraid of a dog. I have a stick. i have a gun. I have ways to make your dog (or your cat that trucks with my fish) go missing. If you don't care about your animal that's sad but not my problem. I don't know why this is so hard to understand.
I have two dogs myself! I walk them every day. I let them run around outside in the mornings, I have a fenced in backyard though. I understand what you are saying. The neighbor said that the dog's fence was messed up because of the storm. I think this whole thing is a tragedy.

Yes and why would you let your dog out if your fence was messed up?
but a teenage neighbor played with the dog for 30 minutes and then went inside without saying a word about the dog being outside the fence which leads to the belief that the dog being loose was not an uncommon occurrence.

I agree that the dog should have had a better eye on it but I just don't see myself ever shooting one.
Oh me either. unless I was just fed up.
P.S. I'm missing a fish. pretty sure it's the work of a neighbor's cat because I haven't lost a fish in years. YEARS. and if it DIED it would have floated to the surface not just vanished.
If I set a trap near my pond will that be frowned upon? Is my neighbors cat worth more than my fish?

I don't care that much about cats....
If you set up a trap would you take it to the pound if you caught it?
Josh, Thanks for your apology I will pass it on to the dogs owner. Animal control never flipped the dog so they did not see the other shots. The dogs owner was advised to take pics since she will be going to court and I personally photographed the dead dog. There were 5 bullet holes, 3 to the belly and 2 to the head.(The head shot could have been thru and thru it was difficult to tell. I never posted on here to call anyone out or anyones past or past relationships out. I posted because our neighborhood witnessed a horrible tragedy. We spent the morning burying a dead dog and comforting crying kids. I wish you had handled it differently my kids can't unsee what they saw. They saw Katanna lying midway in your yard dead and they saw her bloody body as we carried her out. I hope our neighborhood can move past this, right now the kids are scared to death of you. Other neighbors with dogs are scared of you, the people in the culdesac have talked about a petition. Katanna belonged to a 4 year old who every day since she was shot has told me Katana is in the hole. This is just an example of how one choice can affect multitudes. I believe you were afraid of her because of the breed, I wish you had chosen another option in how to deal with it. Like I said I am glad you apologized and I hope you can personally apologize to the owner or at least send a letter. Hopefully time will heal all wounds and the kids will not think about this all the time. My kids have always enjoyed playing with yours and it is sad for the kids. Without sounding petty if you could please slow down when entering and leaving the neighborhood. There are lots of kids who play and ride bikes. Thank you everyone for your concern and sympathys I appreciate it. To the person with the missing fish raccoons love fish ponds. I would like the moderaters to now close this topic as it was never my intention to call someone out personally.

I wish the dog's owner would have chosen to be responsible for their dog's safety. I wish the owner's would have chosen to use a leash for their vicious breed dog. I would not be afraid of this man, hell I would buy a house next door to his! At least I know, my kids could play in the yard I PAY for, without being scared of the neighbors dog.
And, before you all jump...I own a vicious breed, guess what!?!?!?!?! She never goes in the front yard without a leash! Why? Because it is my responsibilty to make sure MY dog stays on MY property! You can bet your life if any animal enters my yards and charges my kids, I will fill it full of lead...no matter what breed!

The dog was out Thursday as was previously stated, she was kept indoors and let out to potty. Thursday she was let out accidently by a four year old who left the front door open. In a perfect world kids wouldn't leave doors open and dogs wouldn't run out them. I also took pics of the fence that the tree took partially down.(We share this fence) she did not inspect her fence before letting her dog out, nor did I. I didn't think we had sustained damage. The only difference is when I let mine out to potty they didn't see the damage or didn't care and mine stayed in. Everyone in this neighborhood (we have lived here over 10 years) has at one time or another had one escape. In a neighborhood before a death sentence is inflicted every option should have been tried. The shooter clearly said he did not know how many bullets hit the dog any one of those bullets could have strayed and hit a kid or gone through someones window. When you live in a neighborhood everyones safety is of concern whether it is from a dog, gun or car.

Unfortunately we have individuals out there that are looking for confrontation.. If more people would listen to what the bible has to say ( Love your Neighbour) then we would have less of these incidents! I could understand if the dog was doing harm but 5 shots that's ridiculous!!
