Depends on what you all you are looking for in a liberal church. Some churches are offering a variety to appeal to an open crowd.

By liberal - do you mean more casual dress and more modern music? Liberal in relation to churches can also mean to take a more liberal view of the Bible, not taking the Bible so literally.

Then what exactly? I'm curious. Your thread still seems a little vague in what you're looking for. I like old school pentecostal or non-denominational (more fundamental) churches, primarily because of the heavy spiritual influence, and the music is GREAT, although I would never call it rock. Being a minister of music (and piano player) for over 20 years in churches, I really love moving music, but I stop short of blaring guitars and all that jazz. Piano, bass and drums go a long way in good music, especially older school music. However, I did like a lot of the "Praise Songs" we did also. More contemporary, but still pretty much at bay with only the instruments I mentioned.

For example, I am looking for a church that would accept a female pastor.

Ok, most non-denom's do. The church I go to don't mind and even likes Joyce Meyers (sp?) and Paula White.

But we won't have a gay pastor.

While I can't recommend a specific church, I *can* tell you that the United Methodist Church ordains female ministers. My grandmother's last minister was a woman, and Rev. Allen-Grady spoke at her funeral.

The methodist church in downtown powder springs has a female pastor. The kids went to a music camp there a couple of years ago and they seemed like nice folks.

This sounds like a church I would be interested in. Do you know where one is?

Actually, I don't. I played at my mother's church for about 20 years, and haven't found one like that since. Of course, it would help if I looked harder. ;)

The church I go to has a female Pastor and we several other female Pastors in the church as well as those who come to minister at the church. The name of the church is Destiny International Worship Center. It is located in Dallas next to the Dollar General (the one across from Ingles). It is a great church, very annointed and it is spirit led. We have a contemporary worship where you are free to worship how you feel led. Good luck and I will be praying that God leads you to the right church. God bless!

'Liberal' is an awfully broad word. It could mean anything from contemporary music to getting to sleep with whomever you wish. You need to clarify what you mean by 'liberal'.

I would like to find a church that does one song (not the 30 to 45 minutes of chanting) and a 10 minute speech on something encouraging and uplifting to start the upcoming week. And let that do it. In and out in less than 30 minutes.

Anyone know where a church like this is?

The closest thing I've ever seen to that is a Unitarian Universalist church. In a nutshell, the UUC is very much 'live and let live,' IMO - they draw their beliefs from a multiplicity of faiths. The services do last around an hour, though.

Here is the link to the UUC in Marietta - there isn't one in Paulding.

My wife has suggested this church before.
