I was in Macon today watching an old 707 tanker shoot approaches into Robbins. Quite cool.

I am pretty sure the C5 isn't "based" out of Dobbins anymore. Today is the first I have seen one in a long time (I work next to Dobbins). Not sure what is doing but it has now been by 5 times tonight.

Flying the C5 on a rainy day?

The C5A was quite a marvel in it's day. I still love to see it flying.

Glad to see chatter about this. I've been curious as well. At first I thought it was going to crash it was so low.

I was able to see it up close and personal.

I worked at Lockheed for 3 years starting in 1968 during the Vietnam war.

I worked on the mezzanine in the C5A moch up and lived in some apartments off of South Cobb drive and would see it flying all the time.

I still feel pride when I see it flying.

Even after all these years, that was the best job I ever had!

My husband is an inspector at Lockheed and works on the C5 every day. The ones you see flying around now are the C5m (Super Galaxy). They are updating the planes with new engines and misc. other things. They are incredible airplanes and have broke numerous records for weight, distance, altitude and more. I had the honor of having a photo made of me sitting in the pilot seat of one a couple of years ago. That was an awesome experience.

My grandad ruined me when I was 5 by sitting me in the pilot seat of a Cessna 150.

I worked on the C5B program at Lockheed. It is a beautiful airplane and you never can imagine the size of it until you are standing next to it. I just love how it has that hum to it as it is flying. Back in the day, that was the main way to tell it from the C140 in the air, because they look so much alike (only the C5 is much bigger). In the air, they look the same.

Yep, the C5 has a sound of its own.

I still love to see it flying, although it's been a long time since I've seen one.

I was stationed at NAS Atlanta in the Marine detachment in 1966. Seen full scale mockup of C5A. Said to self that no way something that size would fly! Was watching when the first they took the C5 up. I never said I was an Aeronautics Engineer.

The C-5 has an ass on her that the C-141 doesn't have. Note the buttock-shaped portion of the fuselage just forward of the tail section. From a very long distance, one can't determine if that girl (a C-5 or C-141) has an ass on it.

I believe there are no C-141s left in service except for maybe one or two oddities.

there are PLENTY of c130's still flying. they do a tremendous job. they may not be as big as the c5 they may be old hat but they are great at what they do. i live at new hope and they fly over my house all the time. i see them in the news, when they are used as a smaller military time plane. they are the workhorse of all planes. my daddy worked on them for over 25 years. i have great pride when i see them.

My grandfather worked on the C5 from the wood mock up to seeing it take its first flight. When we buried him in 1986 at the cemetary at the end of Dobbins run way a C5 took off. It was a fitting end to his life because he was so proud and told anyone that would listen about that plane. It amazed all of the family that it took off right after the final prayer, almost like they planned it.
