I attended a meeting today with other teachers and I was sad to hear that teachers have run out of paper at Ragsdale. Teachers NEED paper! I instantly thought of the generous, giving people on P.Com. If anyone feels led to drop off some printer paper for these great teachers, I know they would greatly appreciate it!

Not to stir up a hornet's nest, but I have never understood this. How is it we pay taxes out the wazoo for schools and then wind up with zero paper on the first day of February? I cannot imagine functioning without the most basic of supplies needed for a job.

Are you talking notebook paper or copy paper???

If it is copy paper--you can get it for almost half the price at A & M Office Supply (which is a commerce member).

If you are talking notebook paper--that is exactly why I buy bunches before school starts, since it so much cheaper.

Yeah, I don't want to start anything. I am a teacher and we do run out of paper and spend lots of our own money. I just thought if there was anyone who would be interested in helping our kids with a glad heart this would be a great opportunity.

See, that is just not right. Why should YOU have to spend your own money to do a job that the supplies should have already been paid for?!?!? And I'm sure you buy things besides just copy paper. Geez Louise, but that just gripes me.

I'd love to drop some paper by, but I must confess I don't have the faintest idea where Ragsdale Elem. is.

I work at A&M and my daughter goes to Ragsdale. I'll see if I can fit my budget to donate a case this week or next.

GOOD PEOPLE!!! I love doing business with you. Just wish I could do more, but since changing jobs and a much smaller office--it just doesn't work.

How much is a case?

typically a case is ten reams of 500 pages each. (5000 sheets) or 2500 11x17 pages. If the paper is heavy or card stock, it may have 3000-4000 pages in a case.

Typically a case will cost from $20-$45 depending on where you get it, whether it has color, if it is damaged a bit, open and the weight, whether it is recycled. Rarely you will find a case for under $20 - usually only possible at a place like A&M or when you redeem one of the coupons or find a 'loss leader' special at one of the specialty office supply stores (very rare). More typically you'll find the 'deal' nets a case at the $25-35 range on a regular price of $40 or $45.

But this is all gut and speculation as the price of paper, like every commodity will vary over time.

Yowsa. I live in Acworth and work in Kennesaw. That's gonna be a stretch. I'll see if I can figure out how to work something...

It might be possible to ask A&M to let people donate to fund there at the store and when there is enough for a few cases collected someone can drop them off at the school.
The A&M folks are very nice, they have been very good to Pubby and I when trying to furnish the new office.

We have paper ordered and it should be in by Friday or early next week. The county contracted with a company that is out of state and we normally have to wait about 5 days before it is delivered. The company moved to a new warehouse and deliveries have been delayed. We have been waiting on our paper for about 10 days now. Thanks for the offers for help, it is appreciated, but we should be fine. However, we never turn a donation away and if you want to donate a ream to a teacher, I am sure it would be appreciated. : )

Thank you for the clarification. It seemed as though there was NO MORE paper for Ragsdale, which I and others thought very odd. :good:

What is A&M?

I know when my kids school ran out of paper a few times last year. It was really more of an issue of deliveries being delayed.

Things happen and no child should have to go without any school supply whether we pay taxes or not.....nor should the teacher have to pay out of pocket to stock up on supplies for an entire classroom all school year.

What your child gets out of school isn't solely due to the teacher or school but also you as the parent.

They are a surplus office supply company - and PCOM biz member - that sells locally (paper, office supplies, office furniture - much of what you'd see in a quill catalog ) located in a warehouse near the MGI factory just of 278 before you get to the new hospital.
