Every day I have girl friends say- they have a headache, their stomach hurts, etc. I think it is bc women just talk more.

Every day for years.
And working in customer service on the phone with complaining customers.
The only time headaches put me to bed was about 20 years ago with migraines for about 6 months. I was pre-menopausal and it was probably hormones.
Migraines can be very incapacitating but a headache? I've dealt with them all my life.

I have had three children. And yeah I complained.
Females complain way more than males. In general IMO. I do think it is bc they talk way more. I talk to my bf every day and every time I am in the car. So the slightest pain- you usually say it. It is stuff that just shouldnt be said. I am sure it is annoying. My husband tells me so lol I do not complain nearly as much as others.
Males never complain bc they never talk. So they only speak up when they are really not feeling well. Like need to go to the dr sick.

Maybe men hear women complain about their aches more because when women are home they are still working. (laundry, housecleaning, etc.) When men get home from work they can sit and relax their aching muscles.
BTW- I know that is a generalization but it think it is the majority.

I've only ever had one migraine (thank the Lord) and I agree...they are incapacitating. But just headaches? Please. I work whether I have a headache or my back is killing me or whatever. I freely admit that nausea will slow me down more than a headache, but I've always worked through pain. It's part of life.

Agreed 1000%. Hubby has had kidney stones while out of town working and took Advil until he could get home and had to have surgery to remove them.
When he cut his finger off at work last year and had to have surgery 3 days later, he took a total of 4 pain pills the entire time.

That reminds me of a call. Young woman had a baby previous night. They call us out to her home. I do not know why but she was at home the next night. She is sick, has a fever and generally not looking like she feels well even for regular circumstances. When we assess her her only complaint is the "my butt hurts".

The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can't pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies… America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.Senator Barack Obama

Some people like the attention ailments garner them. Others don't like the pity party. I don't think it's a man or woman thing.

By nature we are fixers, Men think in a box, this is pain they put it into a box and try to forget.
Women have spaghetti noodles in their heads, pain means something is wrong, then the list of every health article they have ever read replays in their mind. Pain is something that needs fixing and pain explains why as Solo so eloquently put it why we don't want to do things, or why we are acting different. A man with a headache goes into the office cusses everyone, no reason needed he is a man suck it up.
I mean for real my husband starts snapping I use to be like whats wrong, my feelings would be hurt. Now I ask when was the last time you ate, oh really then shut up eat something or I am going to feed you my fist.
We are more verbal about it, we obsess over it more, men think if you ignore it, it just might go away. They are also brought up to believe whining and complaining is a sign of weakness.
Women also have hormones that make them more sensitive emotionally. Men on the other hand have lots of testosterone, we all know how sensitive that makes them
I think our pain tolerance is the same or higher we just take more notice and vocalize about it more.

One night the thoughtful husband brought his wife of 10 years 2 Aspirin and a glass of water as they were getting into bed. Puzzled, she looked at him and asked "what's this for?" He simply replied "your headache". She laughed at his ignorance and said "I don't have a headache." He smiled at her and said "Gotcha..."

Most women have to function even when their headache is so bad lights and sounds kill them, not to mention upchucking!
There are headaches which will literally knock you down and out. I wonder if men have those kind of headaches. I don't think my husband ever has.

And women who are sick and are responsible for children tend to hurt and stress more because they still try to take care of those kids. A woman never can get sick and just be sick. There is always a load of problems to solve involving meals, kids and etc. Dealing with those issues makes your pain greater!

Let's talk about being sick... women aren't allowed to be sick.... I could be in bed with a high fever, think my hubby would check on me, offer me water and fever meds? Think again... The most I got from him is when I broke my knee, he would bring me food home some... Oh but if he feels bad, it is known... do I have a fever, I am nice can I get you anything?, Something to drink, you need to take some meds.... if I am sick it is nothing...he does not even acknoledge it..but if he is sick, the whole world knows it....women are suppose to carry on, but they are not suppose to get sick...men do not handle being sick well and they suck at helping their spouses while they are sick.
