Where is there a Publix in Hiram? If you use the store locator on the Publix website and put in Hiram none show up with a Hiram address. There are 3 located in Dallas and 2 in Powder Springs.
Where locally are the organic food store and the organic produce store located?

I think Save A Lot stores would do well in the locations where Food Lions are located now. My Mom used to live close to one, and it got a lot of business. It was smaller than Kroger or Publix and stocked basic items at discounted prices. The lighting and design was plain. I've never been in any except that one. Has anyone shopped there? I looked online and the closest location to Hiram is Bremen. I looked at their sales for this week and noticed that they have 2 lbs of carrots for $1.00 and 3 lb. bags of onions for only $1.00. I plan to email them and suggest that they consider locating a store here.

My apologies. That should have read 'Downtown Powder Springs'.
I live near the corner of Macland Rd. and Lost Mountain in West Cobb. I used Google Maps for my write-up.
The 25% off sale starts today... does anyone know when the family dollar will open? I wonder if they knew FL would close before they leased the building for the family dollar.

I would think pretty soon, I saw them stocking it yesterday.
Some vendors were in the store removing their merchandise --- assuming FL is selling it back to them at a discount.
Got some good stuff.
Only things not 25% off is tobacco, alcohol, and for some strange reason, refrigerated milk products.
However, watch out --- they still have sale item signs in place for some items, which i noticed didn't apply at the register.

That was always my first condition, "If I get this thing you are NOT getting out one single time." and I never let them, so the fad wore off quick when they couldn't snatch and grab off the shelves on the cookie aisle!
Food Lion is high. I do my grocery shopping at WALMART. I don't use coupons or store brands and Walmart is still cheaper.
The only reason I went was to get cans of Allen's Italian cut green beans with the shelly beans. They are hard to find.
AND a gallon of milk and there wasn't any milk!
the allen beans is what I buy... and sams has them a gallon can for 3.45 i just bought some sunday... i am suppose to try to take mama up there at FL but i think after reading this I may tell her it is not worth the trip..

I went this morning and bought some store brand nightime pants for my 4 yo that were a good deal with the 25% off, some beans, TP, aluminum foil and Food lion salsa which is fabulous. A lot of the stuff was marked back up- kind of like Kroger has a sale price with a rewards cards, so that "discount was gone and most of the stuff was still too high. The lady at the register did say that the food would be marked down more. It looked like they had brought in employees for the liquidation as there were alot of of employees I had never seen beofre and she was talking about how at previous store closing new merchandise would continue to come in for a while until the warehouse was depleted...
According to comments at southernsavers.com/ some Food Lion locations that are going of business are accepting coupons while others are not. Does anyone know about the local ones? Are they still accepting coupons?
Just found out it was senior citizen day at Kroger...*Noted* Thats why it was so crowded and I guess that must be why the elderly lady broke in front of me at the deli, because her Boars Head Tavern ham was more important than my Private Selection baby swiss cheese
I would wait and see if they do a 50% off. That would be better!
But they may not.
That is coming next Wed I was told though there may not be much left.
I managed to score some good deals, nothing screaming but good. I was pleased. I did notice their prices are higher than other places. Could be why they didn't work out so well there.

Yes they are just no competitor coupons, no price matching and they are no longer doubling coupons.
If you didn't see it with your own eyes or hear it with you own ears, don't invent it with your small mind and share it with your big mouth!
I've never been in a Food Depot, what are they like? I always thought they were nasty.......and I have nothing to base it on except maybe where I saw it or the surrounding area.

I've only been in a few of them, and they were run down. I only buy produce at them and I wash it all anyway.
I know the one I know of in Austell I thought was nasty when I lived out there, but that was years ago. I have family that lives there and swears by the produce and meat...
I just hope some type of grocery store goes in there soon. It is very convenient to the house if we need something quick or to stop on the way home from work to pick something up for that night. I'll still do my "grocery shopping" at Walmart, but really hope something goes in there!

Food Depot is owned by some ex Winn Dixie upper management. They usually go in closed WD's and have a local person to manage them. They have a limited amount of brand items more so generic.
YIKES...I am 62 yrs old so I LOVE the Senior Day at Kroger.
We just don't like going to that Dallas Kroger...the ZOO.
So we go to Macland Road...not too far from us.
ALSO..We are going to go check out the newer one on Brownsville Road that I saw
mentioned in THIS forum. We have never been on that road at all.
Lived here 16 months so far.
According to the PAUDING TIMES....the parent company of Food LION
is closing 113 UNDERPERFORMING Food Lions. It is hoping to do
this within the next 30 days.
I would be happy if an unmarked van backed up in the Food Lion parking lot and sold groceries out of the back of it, just to keep from going into Kroger on Wednesdays like yesterday.....
I buy a good deal of meat at Food Depot. Usually cheaper than Kroger and as good, if not better, than Ingles. Their prices on meat don't vary as much as Kroger or Publix. It is generally always the same price. In fact, I have some stew beef in my crockpot right now from Food Depot. It is big chunks of beef unlike the stew beef they tend to have at Kroger which is really small cubes.

I generally avoid Kroger after school gets out for the day ANY day of the week.
Wednesdays are not that bad at the one I go to unless there is something else drawing the people out. I guess the seniors who shop at the Brownsville Road Kroger are well behaved. The kids whose moms shop there after the kid has been sitting in school all day, not so much.

Food Depot.. yuck. I will not do business with any compnay that likes to play games with their pricing listed on the shelf. Just add their +10% to the price so not to make people have to do the math and figure out what the real cost is. It's like oh look coke is $1.25 a 2 litter.. umm no it really is $1.38, that just makes me mad.
Just do like my daughter and I do--add the upcharge to the shelf price and then there are no surprises at the checkout.
It's no different than going to any other grocery store where the shelf price doesn't match the price that rings up. Or there are no more sale items.
Not defending Food Depot because I'm not a regular shopper but for many people, particularly in the southern Powder Springs or Austell area, there aren't a lot of other choices around. My daughter either has to get me to take her to the store or she has to walk to Food Depot. The Food Depot in Austell/Lithia Springs has a LOT of customers who walk there. It's absolutely amazing! I bet their business picked up considerably once CCT stopped running a bus to Austell.

I went yesterday but didn't get very much because 25% off is still more than I regularly pay and I do most of my shopping at Publix. I know people think Publix is high but if you stock up on things when they are BOGO and get the things you have coupons for you can come out pretty good. I usually pick up meat at Sam's though. I really hate to go to Walmart or Kroger anymore.
I went to FL this morning.... I was very disappointed.... considering I was in there last week to pick up some items for mama, and I noticed how the prices changed when the 25% started.
FL will accept coupons, for face vaule, (no doubling) they will not accept competitor coupons, they will not accept price matching.. they are no longer giving senior discounts, nor accepting the MVP card.. They are not honoring the food lion sales ads that were out in the paper the sales ads do not apply to the stores that are closing.
They maybe giving the 25% discount but they have jacked their prices up 50% or more.,..
