I tried to get into the Homeschool forum to ask about this but it is password protected. One of my kids has been asking to be homeschooled for the remainder of the year for the past several months now. I thought it had passed but apparently not. I have not yet decided that this is the best thing for him but when my kids ask something of me I look into it.

I have looked into it a bit and it just seems like there is more information out there than I can sort through and I wanted some input on the best programs for an 8th grader that plans to attend public high school in the Fall. I want to make sure if we do this he will be as prepared as possible. He is a smart kid~~has gotten all A's most of his life and this year is on the All A and B honor roll. In elementary school he was in Venture. Just thought I'd mention it so that you know I am not just a Mom thinking her kid is smart like we all do :).

I was hoping Georgia offered online school like they do in South Carolina (or so my sister says) but I couldn't find any information to indicate that. Cost is something I would have to consider since doing this would cut into the number of hours I am available to work (luckily what I do is somewhat flexible).

Thanks for any tips and input and Mods feel free to move this topic to the appropriate place.

His entire Chemistry set ( which was kinda scary all that crap...lol) but they are wonderful. Some of his teachers are from Cobb County... Its the best move we ever made!!!!

Thanks!

Could this be the same as Georgia Cyber Academy? The most recent info I find on Georgia Virtual Academy is from 2008.

Thank you for the link. It looks like they start classes in 9th grade but I will take a closer look to be sure.

Thanks for the positive review~~I am checking out their website in another window right now. How long did it take you to get it up and going? I'm wondering if it will be a problem to start half way through the year.

The more I learn about this the more I like it. I still love our public schools though.
