Commission repeals multi-county road development authority
With residents now quiet after the bruhaha of the county appearing to spearhead the construction of a four-lane road around Atlanta, the county quietly repealed the authorizing legislation today shortly after 4 p.m.
Post Commissioner Todd Pownall made the motion to make the effort, which was announced this spring, to cease to exist. While some local citizens sought to wreck the effort, the real deal killer was that similar commissions in counties from Carrol to Bartow, just showed no interest in the project.
Still, Eric Craton, who represented a group of West Paulding residents opposed to the toll road, came before the commission to thank them for putting the proverbial nails in the coffin on this project. Craton suggested that residents in west Paulding are not opposed to progress but the toll road project, they felt, would represent too great a change in lifestyle for them to embrace. In other business the Commission apopnited Alan Shipp and Carolyn Delamont to the Greater West Georgia Joint Development Authority for two year terms, awarded a $250,000 subside for emergency services to Clark Ambulance and awarded a $1.163 million contract for improvement of the intersection at GA92 and Old Stilesboro Road. All actions of the commission were unanimous. Post 4 commissioner David Barnett was out of town and absent. | |

In history there are people who have had their clothes, food, housing and jobs provided to them.
Those people were called "slaves".

Good to hear, didn't even know Eric was involved with it. Used to go to a house church at his home many years ago.

okay - trying to figure this one out as the Clark EMS subsidy has always been of interest to me. They decreased the subsidy (I am assuming the fuel subsidy is still in place) from $475K to $250K yet there was a $250K increase to the "Wellstar Paulding Indigent Med" fund. I am wondering if any of this allocation can be used to pay for delinquent ambulance rides? If Clark has had financial troubles over the past few years I am sure that a loss of $225K will certainly hurt if it is not made up in other ways.
