Please don't interrupt a teacher's class or email teachers about my AC not working. Trust me, there is nothing teachers can personally do to fix the situation and if it is hot the my room, they've already contacted the powers that be. Its not like we have control of the AC and are choosing to be hot.

Agreed. Contact central office directly. Obviously they aren't listening to us.

I would hope the BOE has a total energy management system (EMS) in place for all schools and facilities. Being they have had such a cash cow $$$$ in the past raising taxes and making some of the most unbelievable upgrades. Just having a central computer, a person can manage the schedules and temp sets at any location, much less perform other energy savings such as electrical consumption

Sure, but they'll mostly be in electronic form.

Dead tree learning is so last century.

A book is a book, is a book... don't care what form it's in as long as they can learn from it......and I'm last century and learned quite a bit from the dead trees..... :nea:

Yeah, I know, this after I was told the air would be on when I called up there yesterday. I take medication that makes me very sensitive to heat and I could not stay had to leave.

IT IS TOO HOT IN GEORGIA TO GO TO SCHOOL IN AUGUST> we can cut back on the days off and return to a COMMON SENSE school year. i truly believe that it would save money. thank you for your time this is just my opinion and my VENT.

I love the idea.
August is not a good time to start school.
And the buses are so hot that the kids can get sick.
A very big pet peeve of mine.
It is illegal to leave a child in a car with the windows cracked for a few minutes because it is dangerous. (and it should be....not saying that this is a bad law)
BUT it is okay to put them on hot bus without air and not allow the windows to be put down.....makes sense to me.
ALL THAT GLITTERS IS NOT GOLD.

In at least one of my son's classes they will have real true books. With a hard cover, pages, and everything!!!!! Want to what's really funny about that? It's the class that there are a lot of changes in the subject.

Happy Birthday to all 1973 babies. Tell your mom how much you love her!!!

I agree with you 100%.

There is no need for starting school this early just so they can have all these extra weeks off for parents to go on vacation. There are actually very few families that take vacations on those weeks and the ones that don't are put in a real financial hardship. I know several families that these weeks wind up costing them $300 and up just to have somebody to keep their kids while they work. Not all parents have jobs that let you take off when they want to or work from home.
