I know that schools like East Paulding have the honor grads wear a different color robe & have them sit up front. It is a great honor because most of them have taken most if not all AP and honors classes. North Paulding is not doing anything like this to honor the honor grads. North is making everyone equal. What does everyone else think of this? Why work so hard and not be recognized at graduation. I know that a lot of parents that students just went to school and didn't put much into it will not understand, so I assume I will get slammed some about my opinion.

Honor grads at North will wear their special cords/colors and will graduate first.

Edit: From the handbook:
Any senior with a grade point average (GPA) of 89.5 or above will be recognized as an honor graduate. These students will receive different stoles to wear over the top of the gown. These will be given out as soon as the counselors receive all grades and calculate the averages. On top of wearing the stole, these graduates are also honored by being allowed to graduate first. Honor graduates will line up alphabetically at the beginning of the line.

It is good to hear that they are doing something because I had a parent this morning that was helping w/ graduation tell me that they were not going to graduate first. This parents child is an honor graduate and since they are helping with graduation I thought they knew what they were talking about.

At least you now know that this individual is not reliable.

I thought she was because her child had been lined up and they had practiced coming in already.

Hmmmm, not sure what to make of that...One notices that your OP made a categorical statement ("North Paulding is not doing anything like this to honor the honor grads. North is making everyone equal.") and then proceeded to ask others what they thought of this. At no time did you say, "I was told that..." or "Someone who was at the practice said that..." and especially not "Has anyone else heard this?" or better yet, checking with the school. So one wonders if the person who misinformed you is someone you barely know--in which case you should not have repeated the words of someone not well known to you--or someone you know fairly well--in which case surely, if you search your heart and mind, you really deep down know that this is not the firs7 time she has gotten a story wrong.

Either way, and despite your woeful "I assume I will get slammed about my opinion," it really is not just a matter of your expressing your opinion, but a matter of your posting heresay that you never bothered to confirm, based on one person's report, and then trying to gather opinions about something that was not even right in the first place.

Very pleased with the way my Grand kid's school handled this issue. I thought the honor grads were recognized in a very tasteful and appropriate way. It was just as TNlamb said it would be only it was SPH.

Maybe your handle should be "being nosey while spreading unreliable hearsay"

Never tried to spread hearsay, was just saying I heard something and wanted to know if it was true. Most of the posts on here are people asking questions and trying to get info. on what they have heard...

I like the honors students wearing different colors and their cords. And I have 3 kids at different levels of learning. At PC the honors parents and guest had reserved seating on the field when my daughter graduated.

Bullcheeze. You never asked "if it was true." You made a completely inccurate statement and proceeded to ask others what they thought of that situation--one of which you clearly disapproved. There was no attempt to find out if it were true or not--not that p.com is the appropriate venue to do that--just "What does everyone else think of this?"

Just own up to the fact that you made a poor decision by spreading misinformation, and resolve to avoid doing so in the future. Simple as pie. ^_^

Its still like that. Love the honor student parents, guest sitting on the field. It gives more room in the stands for people to sit. I had a honor grad but will have one that is not. Love the white robes too.

I was just feeling sorry for the people up at North Paulding if that was the case. Working hard and not getting recognized for it has kinda become the norm these days. I feared it was the beginning of making everyone equal in school. I know that I have seen students waste an entire class period doing nothing and then a student that did do their work being made to let them copy.

I know it was very nice when my daughter graduated. Now mine are at North. And I'm like you, I will have kids not to graduate with honors and that is fine with me if the Honors kids and parents wear different colors and sit on field.

I often wonder why you do not get banned for being a complete KNOW IT ALL PAIN IN THE ASS. The more you post, the more you sound like a dumbass!
