I have no problem with the dress shoes, dark slacks and a tie, but for the love of God- white shirts dress shirts ONLY? What about the families barely making ends meet? Why can't they just wear a dress shirt in any color? It's not like the shirts will be seen under the gowns anyway...

I think it's going to look really cool. Everyone in white shirts but adding their own personality with a cool tie or something.
I think if they are going this way that white is the best possible choice. Almost everyone has a white shirt or access to one.
Congrats on your son graduating!!

It's not the "white shirt for everybody but my kid" rule.
My son was a dipcheeze and wore brown shoes to his graduation, KNOWING that he was supposed to wear black shoes! (thank you my Ex for allowing him to do that)
He almost didn't get to walk because of it!
Thank goodness his grandfather had on a pair of black shoes and wore the same size so they swapped out!
I STILL want to smack him (and the EX) for being such a dipcheeze!

you absolutely CAN see the shirt under the gown...the collar will be very visible.
Do like the other pcommer said and go to goodwill.
I wish the color of a shirt was all I had to stress about

It’s been this way since the stone age! I graduated in 1984. We had a dress code. Girls were even required to wear white dresses only to the Baccalaureate service. White's not really my favorite color and it’s not very flattering on me. Quite frankly I would have worn blue but it never occurred to any of us to complain about it much less not comply. A white shirt with a collar is not asking for much.

thank you so much for the offer, but I can cover it. The purchase concern was more for the parents of some of my son's friends that I know CAN'T afford it.
but again- it was really nice of you to offer it! Thanks.

Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass ... it's about caring and loving your relatives and friends while you can touch and see them, and they are still among us.

North isn't the only school. PCHS also is white shirt, dark slacks, and dress shoes.Have fun with it. Get him his white shirt but let him pick out a tie of his choice any color. My son picked out a bright Blue tie that he will never wear again but it was only 9.00 dollers at Ross. and a new white shirt was only 12.00. HAVE FUN!!!!

If they can't afford it they should just get on pcom. There's always somebody on here willing to help out when needed. Probably plenty of people with white shirts in their closets that they could donate.

It makes for a very nice picture.
And if someone really needed one I would get them one.
Goodwill has them for $5.

Yep, The white dress I wore for my graduation in 95 is hanging in my closet right now. I feel like crying everytime I look at it. I think it's a size 2.

Alternate signature available for those under 3 and right wing conservatives.
Why does it have to be political correctness? Why can't it just be common courtesy?
If Tylenol, duct tape, or a band aid can't fix it... you've got a serious problem!
