I'm still looking for a church. The ones I've attended so far all seem to be missing something.

Today I was thinking about the churches that I attended as a child and those that I attended before moving to Paulding county and I realized that they all had included all ages: from the youngest baby to someone in their 80s or older.

That seems to be missing in the churches I have visited locally. As I said I'm neither a grandparent or a greatgrandparent, but some of the churches I've visited seem to focus only on people up to age 35-40 or so AND their children. The churches I've been a part of before always had lots of youth programs, BUT they also had classes and activities that included older people, and some where every age group would be doing something together.

What about your church?

Please come visit West Ridge near EPHS or the west campus at Poole Elementary. I know the main campus has birth to 80's attendees and both locations love helping in our community. Everyone is welcome and dress is casual. Many smiling faces to greet you.

I find this trend somewhat disturbing as well. My church is composed of all ages and our Pastor continues to state that we are a Church for all ages. I'm not going to knock a church that focuses on a certain age, but it is just not for me.

Our church has all ages, birth to 94...literally.

We also have both traditional and contemporary services, as well as children's service.

It's not a huge church. (I don't like the churches that have so many attendees it's like a concert hall).

We would be more than happy to have you. :)

Our church has people of all ages, my grand daughter being the youngest at 16 mos and the oldest being 90+, this man and his wife are close in age and they are soooo sweet. They have been going to that church for over 50+ yrs, I think. Actually, most of our congregation is older but, the Pastor, (my son-n-law) is young. We have a few children and we have 2 teens and 2 (I think) about to be a teen and about 10-15 other children. Some of those, do not come on a regular basis.

Thanks for sharing your experiences. It's good to know that there are still churches where all ages are welcomed. I remember when I was about 14 our pastor was at least 40-45 years older, but all ages could relate to his messages and I thought he knew some funny jokes. :)

Thanks.

It would help if everyone would tell something about where their chuch is located since I'm not originally from here, and there may be others who would like to know, too. :)

Dallas First UMC is located on Memorial Drive in downtown Dallas. Right near the old courthouse.

A member sent me a pm inviting me to her church. It contained a link to their website where I read the following. It is good to know that others see the value in having several generations present at a church:

We think it wise to encourage cross generational fellowship within our church family. In today’s mobile society individuals are often separated from their extended family. If you think about it, there is no institution in our society where all generations are encouraged to exist together. Land developers in our society are increasingly encouraging the separation of our communities into patio homes for senior adults and subdivisions with playgrounds designed to attract families with children. In the church, however, everyone should be welcome and encouraged to fellowship together. We encourage the senior adults in our church to mentor the parents of young children and perhaps become the surrogate grandparents for those who live a great distance from their extended families.
