put the elf up high on something along with one of your kids toys....make it look like he is trying to hide it behind them....
or when your christmas tree is up....move some orniments around where they aren't supposed to be and sit your elf at the top with one in his hands...

So she told the 3yr old that the elf would be watching and she had better not get up to get in the fridge. So before bed she put the elf in the fridge and put the reese's in his lap. The 3 yr old of course got up in the middle of the night and when she opened the fridge there sat that elf holding them, it freaked her out so bad, she peed all over herself and fell out of the chair. Needless to say, she stopped getting in the fridge.
My friend leaves him out all year. She told them he has to watch them all year long, not just around Christmas time. Those kids find him in the craziest places...such as
Toy box
top of curtain rods
top of fridge
in the their booster seats in the car
bathroom
living room behind the tv peeking out
playhouse outside
heck last year he even showed up at the dd's preschool class and has already made an appearance this year in her class.
Have fun with it and then come back and post your stores so we can all laugh =)

Our Elf likes to move around a lot. For a few days he was MIA. He finally showed up again and we wondered where he had been. I asked Little Freebird to get the camera and find an old picture that we had stored on it so we could print it out. He found a lot of "party scenes" with the Elf and his little elf friend as they must have been out on a two day party binge while he was MIA.
They still talk about the Elf and are wondering when he will show back up. Lots of good fun and the question is always what the mischievous elf might get into next???

I think it would be a good idea for the elf to bring notes from Santa occasionally, too - praising the kids when they do something nice and talking about how sad it makes him when he hears about them being naughty. Children write to Santa, so why shouldn't he write them?

Our Elf accompanied us on our Elf Scavenger Hunt which happened to end at Disney in Fl. That was a great Christmas for us even though I was 8 weeks pregnant at the time.

*He forgot to flush the toilet one night...did you know elves pee green (food coloring) and poop chocolate sprinkles?
*I have a ribbon rack with about 50 rolls of ribbon on it, he unrolled them and there was ribbon everywhere!
*We found him in the freezer one morning b/c, ya know, elves DO prefer COLD weather
*One morning we thought he was MIA, he had apparently gone for a drive and fell asleep in the car. He was on a stack of pillows and the seat was as close to the steering wheel as it would get.
* He also got our camera once and took pics of himself. My girls SWEAR his facial expressions changed!!
*Once he got trapped in a food storage container...we're still not sure how that happened.
*He and a few of my kids dolls got into a cottonball fight
That's all I can think of right now...Have fun with your elf!!
