Elf on a Shelf is to help keep the kids in line for Christmas right? Its a fun little game to play with them. Let me know if I'm right or wrong.

Caught with his head down in the cookie jar...that's the one that stands out in my mind as the one the kids thought was the funniest! We've also found him hanging upside down from the ceiling fan, IN the branches of the Christmas tree (usually on Christmas morning), and the 1st year he "arrived", he was on the dd's headboard. She woke up freaked out thinking that he was staring at her all night! lol...have fun!

My friends kids are gonna need therapy when they grow up over this elf... they scream every year she brings it out. They will wake up and it will just be sitting beside them. They open a drawer and he is there. They even went to potty and that sucker will be peeking from the shower looking at them... I love being her face book friend cause she has stories everyday about this lil elf and the trama he does to the kids.. ha

You can spill a little flour on the counter and put the elf's foot prints in it.

put the elf up high on something along with one of your kids toys....make it look like he is trying to hide it behind them....

or when your christmas tree is up....move some orniments around where they aren't supposed to be and sit your elf at the top with one in his hands...

my bff has this elf and last year was the first year for her 5 and 3 year old to use this elf. This elf was everywhere in the house. The 3 year old was bad about getting in to the fridge in the middle of the night eating those little reese's cups. They moved them up to the highest shelf but yet she will pull a chair up and still get in them.

So she told the 3yr old that the elf would be watching and she had better not get up to get in the fridge. So before bed she put the elf in the fridge and put the reese's in his lap. The 3 yr old of course got up in the middle of the night and when she opened the fridge there sat that elf holding them, it freaked her out so bad, she peed all over herself and fell out of the chair. Needless to say, she stopped getting in the fridge.

My friend leaves him out all year. She told them he has to watch them all year long, not just around Christmas time. Those kids find him in the craziest places...such as

Toy box
top of curtain rods
top of fridge
in the their booster seats in the car
bathroom
living room behind the tv peeking out
playhouse outside
heck last year he even showed up at the dd's preschool class and has already made an appearance this year in her class.

Have fun with it and then come back and post your stores so we can all laugh =)
Let's go Hiram Hornets and HHS Band of Gold!!! Lets have a great season!!

One year Little Freebird touched the Elf. He woke up to his room being rolled - he just knew it was the Elf.

Our Elf likes to move around a lot. For a few days he was MIA. He finally showed up again and we wondered where he had been. I asked Little Freebird to get the camera and find an old picture that we had stored on it so we could print it out. He found a lot of "party scenes" with the Elf and his little elf friend as they must have been out on a two day party binge while he was MIA.

They still talk about the Elf and are wondering when he will show back up. Lots of good fun and the question is always what the mischievous elf might get into next???

I *love* the idea of having the elf around all year ... he needn't appear as much as he does at Christmastime, but he should show up a few times to remind the kids that they're supposed to be good ALL the time, and not just when Christmas is around the corner.

I think it would be a good idea for the elf to bring notes from Santa occasionally, too - praising the kids when they do something nice and talking about how sad it makes him when he hears about them being naughty. Children write to Santa, so why shouldn't he write them?

What about in the car, the Elf can go places right. Keeping the car clean or from kicking the back of the seat. Just an idea

I enjoyed the stories above and will share them with DD. Last year was the first time the Elf made an appearance at her house. I LOVED the DGD's telling me of finding him and how they had to find him in the mornings bc he reported to Santa during the night. What a wonderful idea someone came up with and how much joy it has brought to so many - young and old.

Another funny find....found him last year beside the candy dish (which had the Christmas Hershey Kisses in it). Max had a little choclate on his face and there were several wrappers scattered around him. LOL...yes, so much fun for young and old~

Our Elf returned Nov.6th. He has been very active moving around the house. Our Elf starts a scavenger hunt around the first of December. He leaves notes and treats too. :)

Our Elf accompanied us on our Elf Scavenger Hunt which happened to end at Disney in Fl. That was a great Christmas for us even though I was 8 weeks pregnant at the time. :)

As you know, all those Elves report back to Santa each night. Santa also hears some great stories from children who visit him on the Square in Marietta. One of those mischievous little boogers turned his family's den upside down one night. All the furniture had been turned over and cushions scattered!

We introduced our elf to our kids last year. It was so much fun!! Here are a few things our's did:

*He forgot to flush the toilet one night...did you know elves pee green (food coloring) and poop chocolate sprinkles?
*I have a ribbon rack with about 50 rolls of ribbon on it, he unrolled them and there was ribbon everywhere!
*We found him in the freezer one morning b/c, ya know, elves DO prefer COLD weather ;)
*One morning we thought he was MIA, he had apparently gone for a drive and fell asleep in the car. He was on a stack of pillows and the seat was as close to the steering wheel as it would get.
* He also got our camera once and took pics of himself. My girls SWEAR his facial expressions changed!!
*Once he got trapped in a food storage container...we're still not sure how that happened.
*He and a few of my kids dolls got into a cottonball fight

That's all I can think of right now...Have fun with your elf!!
