Me, me, me. I can start with 20, need to lose more but small steps are easier to complete.

I agree. Small steps are less overwhelming. For those of you that are interested so far. What do you find motivating? Money on the line? I.E. Winner gets the pot. Public humiliation? LOL. I.E. Posting weight loss or gain publicly on this board.
Any ideas?

If we get enough people maybe I could donate a prize.

That would be nice!
I agree, It would have to be a percentage like they do on The Biggest Loser.
Pounds lost divided by starting weight=percentage lost, Right?
I really like what they do on Celebrity Fit Club. It's the Fit Factor, which takes fat loss/muscle gain into account but it is harder to determine due to fat calipers being a bit finicky.
It would be good to have an uninvolved third party to hold the funds. Also, I wouldn't want to eliminate somebody just because they can't or don't want to put money on the line. So maybe if some want to put in a few dollars they could be eligible to win the "pot" in the end but if they didn't put in anything, they could be the real winner and the runner up would be eligible for the prize money. Of course a donation or two would eliminate that issue, anyways.

What kind of time frame do you think? I'd kind of rather do a shorter time frame because I don't have too much too lose. Maybe 6 weeks? What do you think?

Six weeks sounds like a good time frame to me. Someone needs to contact LPPT and see if she'd help. She's a personal trainer so I think she's familiar with this stuff.
Shan, I'll put your $ in for you.

That sounds perfect to me! What do you think $2 or $3? Do you know LPPT? I have just started getting on here regularly and not even sure how to find a member to PM them.

I'm open to format changes here, will just be the first and final weigh-in? Or should we have only the first and final be official but let you post your own weight each week?

I have lost 45 pounds so far I only have 5 left to meet my goal and then I will probably go down another 10 pounds.. keeping a journal and being held accountable by other members helps out a lot.

Just a single payment.
And it's up to each person how they want to try and lose the weight.
Of course those are just my thoughts, open to anything.

I would prefer mine not be shown, just the losses.

We could make that optional. We could post the losses each week. Good job on the spreadsheet.

The spreadsheet is great, BTW. It leaves no room for confusion and I like the option of putting weight in weekly if wanted. I know that will be likely to keep me from waiting until the last week and doing a crash diet.

People meeting for a weigh-in could be extremely challenging, thoughts on letting people snap a pic of the number on the scale maybe?

I think 6 weeks is perfect. And Monday is a great start day. Get skinny before the holidays (just in time to add it back...LOL)
And thank you. I thought we were talking like $30 but if it's just a few $ I can handle that.

Looks great! You can put me down for a yes and I'll go weigh myself to give a starting weight.

I think weekly weigh ins are important. If you're loosing, It gives you hope, if your gain or maintaining, you'll know you need to work harder. I'm doing the Special K challenge diet to jump start and then may move to South Beach Diet.

Thats GREAT!!! Congrats!! I remember when you started your weight loss journey.
So are we just going to weigh ourselves at home and post it, or are y'all wanting to meet somewhere to weigh in?

We could just bring a scale to the first and final weigh in. I have a Weight Watchers Digital scale that maintains BMI, weight loss/gain and is very portable that I would be willing to bring to the weigh ins. Then we could just meet at someones house, a park or a restaurant for the weigh in. Just an idea.

That works for me. We might have to arrange a couple weigh ins in order to accommodate differing schedules. I can probably arrange to be there any time of day.

CONGRATS!!!! Your weight loss is inspirational!!!
I got my scale at WalMart for $25. I would think they are more accurate than the non digital kinds but I have nothing to compare it to. It says I'm WAY to heavy so it must be accurate. LOL

I don't think anybody has really come up with anything. I can pretty much meet anytime but It may just be too hard to work something like that out with others. Maybe we'll just have to do it on here as a motivational thing and not put in $2. Being held accountable and putting in pounds lost each week may be good enough. I know I sure wouldn't want to ever have to put in zero pounds lost. What do you think?

I'm starting today as well. I'll throw in a prize of $40 for the winner. As far as accountability, I'd vote for sending a picture of the readout on the scale.
