They were 10th graders going up against seniors! They had to put in their two years to gain eligibility to play in the region. No asterisk needed, it was a full varsity schedule!
Most strong 4A and 5A schools' JV teams could beat a normal single A varsity team - just the sheer amount of athletes to draw from.
Last year, with three full grade levels and a great D-1 receiver, North Paulding lost to a couple of mediocre single A teams. Taking nothing away from how well they are doing now - and agreeing that playing some older players while they were just sophomores/juniors, etc - would do nothing but benefit them. Sounds like they've got great coaching and a great group of boys BUT.....
I still stand by saying it was not a FULL varsity schedule the past two years - it was a modified varsity schedule to fulfill their eligibility.

If you want to see a modified varsity schedule, go back to ga prep and look at what Allatoona did in '08. Our schedule has been full varsity for two years and I'm not going to argue that point any further. Thanks.

That all you got?
North Paulding - in 2009 (if enrollment now is 1671, last year with freshman through junior classes it was maybe 1200 students??)
-Lost by one point to Aquinas - school enrollment 286
-Lost to Bowdon - student enrollment 478
-Social Circle - 492 students
-Armuchee - 621 student
North was not playing schools of even close to the size of their enrollment at the time. You had four times the enrollment of Aquinas last year with just your three grades! North had at least double the enrollement of the majority of the teams they played last year. That's all I'm saying - claiming the North boys have played a "full varsity schedule for the past two years" and so that has prepared them - with SUCH school size discrepancies is just ridiculous. Their coaches and players may totally be prepared to play the full region varsity schedule this year, but what they played the last two years wasn't even close to what they'll be facing the second half of this season.

Sigh...I give up.
WHO CARES about the past , you have to play the game on the field against whoever lines ups against you EACH week so everyone . we'll find out FRIDAY..,..
I've seen both teams play and came away impressed with both teams. Should be a good HS football game Friday night. And like most football games it will be determined by who controls the line of scrimmage and who makes the least amount of mistakes. EP will need to put pressure on the NP quarterback, can't give him time to throw the ball. NP will need to try and slow down the Raider running game.
I think the Raiders win just because of experience and coaching.
Pack fans be sure to bring earplugs, that cannon gets loud.

I can't believe ya'll cheered when East lost I am a hornets fan and I wanted nothing more than for East to beat Kell--and they came VERY close to it. Kell will probably come out as one of the top 5 teams in the region, and for East to come that close to beating them is AWESOME. I hope East stomps you cocky Wolf Cubs into the ground. I think you are not nearly as good as you think you are. You haven't played ANYBODY yet and East has played the hardest team they will play all year. Last week I was rooting for NPHS, this week--NOT.
BTW, do you guys play Kell? Watch out cause they will destroy the Wolfpack....
Go Hornets--and Go East this week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kell is also undefeated in our region. We have 3 teams in 5A that are undefeated. After this week there will be only 1!!! You do the math...

I always pull for 2 teams in high school football. 1. North Paulding Wolfpack and 2. Whomever is playing East. So Hornets, we got rid of some insects last week, so go away until next week and we'll exterminate the Hornets. Now we talking trash with East.
I was so hoping that East would beat Kell so both North and East would be undefeated this friday. Can you imagine how exciting that would have been? We have been East fans for 4 years with last year being a year of house divided between North and East.
I hope the boys playing will keep it more friendly and show more sportsmanship then some of you on this thread. I don't really care which team wins but it needs to avoid being ugly. Neither team will go anywhere in the playoffs so keep it friendly.

I'm pulling for East Jackbutt. I said nothing about Hiram.
I will be at the Kell game, but I will be rooting for East from afar.... Go Raiders!!!!!
You said you were a "Hornets Fan". So why would you come on here and throw your 2 cents in. Believe me there is a reason the crowd cheered when the East/Kell score was announced and we cheered when they announced thay South and Hiram won.
Look folks, you can be in fantasy world when you think North will beat East. Your dealing with a very seasoned team that has depth. This team in recent history has had undefeated seasons been to the play offs and went to the dome. Not to mention played at a 5AAAAA level and did very well,so that being said there is no way. Coach Reid will have this team ready for your defeat North Paulding. Look try to look good and maybe in years to come you might stand a chance. Your dealing with a superior team, learn some lessons in the bone yard.
But not this time or this year

And none of those players who played in the dome are on the team this year. These Seniors were in 8th Grade when East went to the Dome. This is 2010, a new season, what you did in the past don't matter come Friday. Didn't Paulding County go to the dome before. Doesn't help them now, does it? And 5AAAAA didn't show to be a very strong region last year when the best team, McEachern, got knocked out of the playoffs early. Congrats on your flash of success but today is a new day.
Today is a new day....and North still isnt ready imho. We will see, but East is deep, and you will be out coached in the x's and o's. Plain and simple. I wish North all the luck in the world and hope they beat Kell, Pope, and Hiram, but dont take a 4-0 record as gospel that they have reached the level to do so yet. We will all see Friday, and if I am wrong I will be the first to say it. East Paulding just is too prepared for ya this year, and the youth at playing a regular schedule will finally show Friday....

Good Luck to all PC teams....BUT GO RAIDERS!!!
Good thing we don't ask for your opinion when we play a game or we'd be 0-4 because nobody has picked us to win a game yet. We like it that way.

You're right, they do sound a bit cocky. And they havent played ANYBODY yet, I think they are going to get their feelings hurt when they play East and Hiram.
