PCHS Football Coach... job?

I am just curious how the new football coach at PCHS comes in from another county and gets to keep a job when there are people in the county who are getting laid off? Sure he may be the best option around for the Head football job, but I am sure there are many teachers/coaches in PC already that would be willing to take that job if it meant keeping their job. I just don't see how he can bring in some of his staff when there are cuts being made.

Sure he was hired before the cuts were made, but he hasn't actually taught a day in PC yet. Just don't see how that is fair.

Yes, and his wife also received a position in the county. It doesnt make sense. Supposedly he has some type of "special contract" that was discussed at a board meeting months ago. I dont see how a weight room/pe coach can get through as a needed position. There are plenty of people that could coach the football team and that are qualified. PC was looking to go outside the county to make the hire from the beginning so I would guess that no in county people were ever even considered

Are you sure she was given a position? You should make sure your information is valid before stating facts like that.

In order to give up tenure, current positions, and uproot a family many school systems offer 3-5 year contracts to teachers/coaches who are recruited from outside the county or state. I don't know if that is the case here but it isn't uncommon. If this particular coach's wife is also a teacher I think it was a smart move on his part if he included her job in the contract.

IF this is the case, I don't see it as scandalous, but I can certainly understand how RIF'd teachers would feel.

This was brought up on here a couple of weeks ago and no one said anything.
Is it really legal? Why didn't GAE jump on it?
Is it fair to all the lay-offs? NO!

I think this was a joke....maybe the taxpayers can pay to defend this one. I do not know of any coach receiving a 3 yr plus deal. The principal hired him.....and so the buck will stop with him....hopefully a young teacher can get GAE or PAGE to help, but we will see. We have allowed this to happen, so we have what we have and a group willing to allow this....so on we go...it has actually gotten to the point that teachers are not going to coach or do extra things due to furlough....so we will see....anyone want to guess on football record for this year?

My son says that Coach Miller has resigned as coach and is looking for another job. What's up with that?

McAllister took a great program at PCHS and let it hit rock bottom under his leadership. I'm glad he's leaving PCHS. Maybe with both him and Segars gone, The Patriots will start moving back up to being a decent school with decent athletic programs. I pity South Paulding though, school spirit will decline, their attendance to ball games will decline and their athletic programs will hit rock bottom within a couple years under McAllister. just wait and see! He should have already been fired, jmho.

The new coach was fired? Who'll be his replacement?

I also heard that the principal from PC is going to South and South's principal is going to Hiram. Also, that there's gonna be more coaching changes at South.

The principal at South is staying at South. Cherry will be going to North to be the Athletic Director there.

I AGREE 100%.

Do we know who will be running the football program? Has a new coach been named yet?

I need adult feedback.

I hear from kids that there are no rules at south - no rules for tardies, hats, behavior. This cannot be true.

Do we know yet who will be the new head football coach? I remember when the Patriots used to have a great program. Hopefully they'll put a good coach in who can turn it around.

As of last friday a New Head Coach has not been named. Spring football is being run by
Asst. coachs that have been with the team for years.
