Why are they not putting him in the school system? I have triplets and two of them are in there and they didn't put it off.

PLease PM Taylors P.A.L.S on here. She runs a nonprofit group in our county that works with families with children with disabilities. She is a former teacher and she knows the school system and the ins and outs of it. Please know there is help out there and I applaud your reaction to your son's diagnosis.

Cindy is the wonderful lady who run's Taylor's PALS. She is magnificent. Please send her a PM.

I had no problem getting my son in Algood's special needs pre k program and he loves it and so do I. I would contact Heather Henry at Paulding County School board, she is the lead teacher over all the pre-k programs in Paulding.

Heather Henry is the one that I also had to talk to for the triplets. My kids were at Dallas Elementary but now they go to Burnt Hickory I can't believe they aren't working on it more.

i did google pdd just now and a bunch of informational sites came up.
one being baby bumble bee dvds
they had alot of great reviews from the speech part

has anyone on here heard of this or used it?

thinking about purchasing a set of dvds/
couldnt hurt right?

my biggest difficulty with mason is not understanding him which in return frustrates him,
he watches puppy dog learning videos and has learned his colors abcs 123s and his shapes

i think he is more visual receptive

oh that was another diagnoses along with pdd
he has receptive expressive language disorder...

when my triplets started speech with Babies Can't Wait they used sign language to help them start them out talking and get them to be able to express themselves to us....and then they started with the speech....

My website is http://www.taylorspals.com It has information about all of the programs and services I offer. Just let me know if I can help.

I can also get you the first 100 day notebook from Autism Speaks if that would be helpful. It has a lot of great information in it.

So did my granddaughter, she is now in 1st grade at Northside and is making huge strides. We have been lucky.

There's a set of signing tapes called Baby Signing Time. It's made by the same company that publishes Hooked On Phonics. I've used it with many children and have had great success. I'm sure it can probably be ordered on-line. Be careful if you purchase other DVD's before you actually watch them. Many of them have adults doing the signing and they are done too quickly for little ones to really learn it and they don't often hold a small child's attention. The Baby Signing Time dvd's have an adult modeling the sign, but then there are children that are using it as well. There's lots of music and it tends to really draw even the child that won't watch tv to it.

I'm not aware of a support group in this area.. but am compiling a list of names of those who are interested. Would you prefer a morning meeting (10:00) or an evening meeting? The parents will not all have children with autism, but some of them will be. Regardless, it will be a group who are all looking for support.. and all parents need that regardless of the disability. If you're interested, just let me know.

The law says...
300.301 Initial evaluations..... must be conducted within 60 days of receiving parental consent for the evaluation.
Did you send in the papers giving parental consent and were you given some scales to fill out on his current performance?
