We were kind of hoping someone from SVdP might come on here and put up a post about the 3 recent graduates from Southern Catholic College who grew up together attending St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Dallas.

Thaddeus Morrison IV, Melissa Pizzolato, and Tyrel Lewis have all attended SVdP since it was a small mission church 15+ years ago. They made their First Communion together. They made their Confirmation together. Thaddeus and Tyrel both graduated from Paulding County High School, and Melissa from East Paulding.

All three of them made the decision to be a part of the first class of students at Southern Catholic College in Dawsonville, Georgia back in August of 2005. None knew in advance that either of the other two were going to attend.

And all three of them hung in there and graduated together weekend before last, May 16, 2009.

The original Freshman class was 72 students. Of those, 38 made it all 4 years.
They graduated a total of 42, ....the rest had transfered in .

I for one am very proud, and pleasantly surprised, that all 3 made it.
Typical batting average, as per West Georgia University in Carrollton is 33% more or less. At orientation, they tell the students to look at the other students on their left and right......and to pay attention because only 1 of the 3 will graduate.

There are several other parishes who have 2 students at SCC, but none with 3 or more in one class.

And SVdP from little old Paulding County had 3, plus another one who will graduate last year. From a Parish with less than 1000 active families no less.

Our congratulations to all 3 of these graduates. The attached photo is Thaddeus, Melissa, and Ty.

Awww, I have tears in my eyes, Surepip. They are so beautiful and have their whole lives ahead of them!

I had no idea the class was so well represented at St. Vincent de Paul. That is amazing! Thanks for the info. SCC definitely needs TONS more publicity down here!!

P.S. I vote that you're an awesome dad, even though you and Mrs. S. read Nietzche behind your DS's back.

For anyone paying attention, twelch was their Religous Education Director for most of thier formative years, including when they made their First Communion and their Confirmation.

To have 3 of her former "students" attend and graduate from the first Graduating Class from the first Catholic College in Georgia is a pretty big deal, to say the least.

We are glad you were there for them Terry!!!
