Doesn't really matter, there could be a hundred reasons to pick Jax State over a SEC school. what ever works for the kid. I wish them all well!

Not really unless your into the band. For football you don't turn down the SEC for Jax State. He could not get his grades right to be admitted to Arkansas is the final word today via the Arkansas Beat Writer.

Typical comment by someone who wouldn't know. If it was a grade issue so be it....Unless you have ever had to make the choice you would never know.

I've been thru my share
Typical comment? Its an easy thing to follow, he was heading to Arkansas till he got the offer pulled. He didn't pick Jax State over Arkansas. Grades are the reason he is not going to Arkansas.
Guess I am clueless to the recruiting game. Lol, unlike the softball girl here.
With all this said Good luck to Jahron, hopefully you can get some early playing time at Jax State!

And just how good are your grades?

I thought if you were a good enough athelete, grades weren't as important. I love JSU though

Nope, you have to have at least decent grades. You cant have a 2.0 and a 500 on the SAT or a 10 on the SAT. You have to be at least borderline for them to bring you on. Grades have become very important recently in the recruiting process, which is a good thing in my opinion.

THANK YOU EPHSBIGBOYZDAD!!!
I have watched Jahron play football since he was 8 years old playing little league at Milford. He's a phenomenal athlete and a great kid! He has worked so hard these last 4 years both in the classroom and on the field/court. Yes, Arkansas is an SEC school -- but don't act as if Jax State is a crap school! I didn't see anyone else signing with Jax State locally yesterday?
Regardless of what school he goes to -- Jahron will be a HUGE asset to any team. Congrats to him and his entire family!
Besides .... Jax State is MUCH closer for his family and friends to go to more games -- so it just might be a blessing in disguise!
CONGRATS TO ALL THE PLAYERS THAT SIGNED FOR ANY TYPE OF SCHOLARSHIP (athletic and/or academic)! WE ARE ALL SO PROUD OF YOU!

I don't like Petrino either but this wasn't his fault, after talking with one of the school administrators today he made it apparent this was because of academics.

At some point parents and students are going to have to realize that studying is just as important as athletics. Your grades will have an affect on where you end up going to school. You can be the best athlete in the world but if you are failing classes its not going to do you a bit of good. Push studying just as hard as practicing. There will be quite a few signees that signed yesterday that want be entering the school they signed to because of grades.

So which school administrator would that be? I am just curious as I cannot see a school administrator giving someone information about another person's kid....you know...privacy laws and all that...so name names...which administrator told you that it was all about grades......

That would be nice to know, because I bet they wouldn't have a job much longer.

Congrats to all the signees.
I heard a rumor that there was going to be more signings in the near future from the EPHS football team? If so.. that is awesome.. and if not, colleges are missing out on some very talented football players!

Because I'm going to actually say the name....
its not against privacy laws to say why the scholarship was pulled, its publicized in newspapers all the time.

I know that it's been said that there is "no shame" for bad grades -- if that's true, then why all the negative connotations that go along with the statements OTHER people make regarding bad grades of kids that aren't even theirs? There isn't one single person that knows 100% why Jahron isn't going to Arkansas except his family -- and ya know what... that's the way it should be! There are a whole lot of assumptions being made along with lots of hearsay -- but the fact still remains that he is going to college! He's getting an education and he's bettering himself by going! Who cares that he isn't going to Arkansas ... at least he's going to SOME college -- and it's still on a scholarship so apparently his grades are too bad! Jax State isn't a dumpster diver of a school so clearly he wasn't failing several classes (as insinuated).
We all need to be 100% proud of any one of the kids in ALL of Paulding County that get scholarships to great schools -- or that go to college at all!
And before I'm ripped a new one -- Yes, I have two kids (one at EPHS and one at EPMS) that play football, basketball and baseball -- and they have known since 2nd grade that if they don't get ALL A's and B's -- then MOM pulls them from the team (and so far ... knock on wood ... that's not been necessary yet). So yes, I put just as much emphasis on grades as I do sports.
