Anyone know of a 12 year old travel baseball team that is still looking for players for their 2009 roster? We live in Paulding and are trying to find a local team. Thanks in advance for your help! smile.gif

check out nwgabaseball.org There are a few listed on there, I'm not sure how local they will be, but that's an option.
If you don't want my opinion, DON'T ASK!

There are only a few travel baseball teams in this area, there are more in Cobb but most are probably filled up by now. I hate travel, rec ball its all political its more like daddy ball, all the daddy coaches sons are in the key positions. I feel sorry for them when they get to high school and cant take their daddys with them.

I am sure every team/area is different but I disagree with this - my son play travel ball starting from 8 years old. Yes the coach's had sons on the team but they held every player accountable and would sit their own kid if/when needed. My son was very lucky to have played all 4 years with the same team and as they entered high school at Hiram, all of them made the High School team except one that couldnt keep his grades up.

After entering HS baseball - that's when it became very apparent that the coaching my son received in travel ball was far superior to that of their HS Coaches. The coach's son did very well in HS as did my son and both of them received many awards in their 4 years of HS play.

Check out Powder Springs also - some really good coaches there as well as teams.
My anger management class is really starting to piss me off!

Thanks everyone for your input. My son has been on the same team for 3 years and it is time for a change. I think you have issues in rec and travel but as far as coaching, travel ball gave my son a better opportunity. We left the team "our family" because the head coach decided he wanted more talent. The sad thing is that we had a great team and now the team will probably fall apart. What kills me is that my son had the 4th highest batting average, an average "on base percentage" and never missed a game or practice. Yet the coaches couldn't give us one reason why my son wasn't going to be picked on the team. Oh well, it was a blessing that we have left. Now we just have to find somewhere else to go because my son wants to keep playing.

Most of the teams I know of are already set. I PM'd you a name and number to contact at Powder Springs to see if you can set up a tryout.
I am truly the luckiest man in the world!

I have a 12yr. old travel team. 2009 will be our third year. We are currently looking for players. All of the coaches are involved with football, but we could work something out to make time for a few tryouts. We were planning on doing try-outs after football. Our team name is the Paulding Co. Panthers. We currently play out of New Ga. Park. We are planning to go to Cooperstown next year. If you are interested you can PM me with your contact information.

Can anyone out there kind of explain to me what travel ball is? My son is only 10, but he wants to take the baseball thing anywhere he can, and I want him to be involved go as far as possible. It seems right now that baseball is a lot of politics, and coach, assistant coach, and team mom's kids play all the best positions. I dont at all want to criticize, and he has a lot of fun, but next season we would be willing to pay more or travel more if that means he may have more opportunity to go farther and get more one-on-one coaching. Or any other leagues, other teams, or any ideas!
Thanks Ya'LL.

When is your son's birthday?
We have a 10 year old team that has been together for about 3 years but looking for about 3 more players. We play rec ball but we are looking to play in a few more tournaments in the spring as well. We have a great record, very competitive and I assure you your son will be challenged and coached. If you would like to chat further or set up a tryout to look at us as well, shoot me a contact number.

Is there any way to reply to you only where this is not posted on the message board? I am very very new to this site.
