I heard over the weekend that Coach Hockman decided to drop all but one of our freshman boys back down; with the depth we have on varsity, he knows they'll get many more needed reps playing freshman ball. He also said he wants to bring this group along together, as he knows the potential is there for them to be a special class.

This means you'll get to see your friends' boys play in September..and it'll help our chances of giving your Raiders a game, too.

Yep -- I heard the same thing last week from a couple of your boys. I see the Smiths every day (morning and night) and the Barnwells too. My daughter goes to Ms. Smiths day care and the Barnwell's mom works there! laugh.gif

I can't wait for football to start! Win or lose, I'm ready to watch my boys play!!! Of course, the Raiders are going to win tongue.gif ... but I still have much love for many boys on your team! We played with them for so long that I feel like they are my babies too! laugh.gif

P.S. -- we were all trying to figure out which coach you were -- are you the one that got the job at Compton? Or are you the one they call "dreads"? Or are you just a very involved parent like me?

See you at McEachern next month! Speak if you see me on the other side -- we are RIVALS -- but it's a very friendly rival in our house! smile.gif

Yes, finally it's almost here! I'm just an involved parent like you...and like you also seem to, I realize that these years will fly by and be over before we know it or even want them to be.

BTW- not only do you write well, but your excellent use of grammar and the English language in general makes me think you're an educator. Not kissin' up, m'am; it's just rare to see such on an internet message board. smile.gif

No, not an educator by profession ... only to my children! laugh.gif Thank you for the compliment ... if only my children would pick up this knack as well! (hopefully you weren't being facetious and sarcastically pointing out my mistakes! biggrin.gif )

and yes, the years have already flown by! I can't believe my son will be in high school this year. I know this is very cliché, but it truly seems like just last year that we were signing the boys up for pee-wee football at Marietta (then Milford) -- both of them were "toothless wonders" and didn't have a LICK of knowledge about football! rolleyes.gif Now ... they "swear" they know everything there is to know about the game and they are entering high school??? How'd that happen?

Just curious -- but where did your son(s) play rec ball?

No sarcasm about the writing- I am totally serious. It's nice to see, I tell ya that.

Mine played at Powder Springs. He has improved steadily through the years but still has plenty to work on, whether he believes it or not. High school ball has arrived just in time- now that us parents have suddenly lost every iota of intelligence, their coaches can pick up the slack and show the boys they still have much to learn about the game. tongue.gif
