I hope all county teams do well this year. I know that the boys over at PC deserve a better coaching staff then what they have. I feel that if they would have had better coaching last year; they would have possibly won their region. They play in a tougher region this year. Pepperell will be a tough opener. Haralson County will not be a pushover, Coach Vohun will have his team ready to play. Rockmart is also loaded again this year.

Wouldn't it be ironic if Hiram were to beat EP in the Jamboree and PC loses to Pepperell?

I'm surprised the Patriot Parents have not demanded a coaching change after the past 3 seasons of lost opportunity.

From what I understand from last year's parents, the coaches don't seem to be able to motivate the team. I

My conversation with some of the parents would indicate otherwise. Also, by now the players know why he dropped the county game, and that probably destroyed any remaining respect they had for him. He is under the illusion that Pepperal will be an easier opening game.

At this point it doesn't matter. Because of the lack of action from people who had control over the situation they are stuck with him as their coach this year. For the boys sake I wish them a ten win season.

It seems the general opinion is that the PC coach dropped the EP game because he was "scared"...but didn't PC actually have that game won last season until EP kicked a late field goal? Looks like PC stayed on the field with the Raiders, so I don't understand the fear factor.

Sauls was quoted saying his reason for dropping the game was because his team could not afford to lose there first game of the season again next year because the loss to East was so demoralizing to his team that they were never able to recover thru the season! So he went out and got him a AAA TEAM THAT HE THOUGHT HE COULD BEAT TO START THE YEAR OFF WITH A WIN!!! Selfish, Trying to save his job and sacrificeing the team! mad.gif

I see. Well, thanks for demoralizing PC enough to help us thump 'em by several touchdowns. tongue.gif

In all seriousness, I hate to see decisions made in the apparent manner this one was. The conjecture and venom spewed just ain't worth it, IMO.

People show up to watch teams that play hard and compete and win...

Will Coach Sauls put a competitive team on the field or will he go through the motions and leave PCHS fans disappointed again this year?

He is desparate to keep his job. He understands that he must have a winning season to do so. I undersatnd from some players parents that he is practicing them very hard trying to prepare for the season. As I said earlier, I hope the boys do very well this year.

If the AAA team is Rockmart, we always play them before our 1st season game.

It doesn't matter. NS's life mission is to bash the Patriot's every chance he can get. He says the same thing over and over. He's mad about the EP-PC game..we get it.

First of all, DO NOT CALL MY SON A COWARD! mad.gif He and all the others bust their a$$ 4 days a week because they love the game of football. My son has done this since he was 7. If you are pissed off at the coach that is one thing , but to call these young boys cowards is wrong. They do not make the decisions and for you to post something like this about young players is assonine dry.gif

maybe you need to reread his post----he didn't call the kids anything.he even said some of them are some of the best players in the county.he simply said that the kids didn't need a coach to make a decision that made the program appear cowardly----not the boys themselves.just reread it in the context it was written.
good luck to all!!!

I remeber the game last year pchs against ephs and as I remember it pc was beating ep from 2nd quarter til the 4th quarter and ep got a field goal at the end and won 17 to 16. That was an exciting game! We weren't beat by a landslisde it could've been won by either team biggrin.gif

I am with you. I was there. Good game, the Patriots played. Fans from EP is another story. TERRIBLE. I hated the way they behaved. I am glad to say we are Patriots.

Just what did the fans of EPHS do last year that was so bad, Sit the the rain and watch football, Or can we talk about the EPHS Players standing in the rain 10 longer that Paulding players waiting on someone to unlock the locker room so they could get into it, or the Paulding coaching staff on the field half of the game instead on the sidelines or the bogus delay game call.

So it's truth that they watered the field for three days knowing that rain was coming in out of spite? Players stand out in the rain for 2 hours during a game. Good Lord this is really getting ridiculous rolleyes.gif

It is the truth whether you know it or not. The point of the whole thing is that we were in no way rude to anyone. All we did was cheer on our boys like everyone else does, but because it is the Raiders then it is being rude because for some reason everyone seems to want to see us do horribly every year.

Okay, I don't have a kid at PCHS or EPHS, so I'm not taking sides, but how does watering the field have anything to do with anything? Wouldn't the PCHS players have to play on the same muddy field that the EPHS boys played on? Why would anyone think this was somehow done to spite the EPHS players????

As I did not have a child playing football last year at PCHS, I wouldn't know anything about rudeness. However, the statement about the water on the field out of spite when it's raining was ridiculous. Being a football mom since my son was the age of 7, I am all about cheering and supporting the boys. Ask anyone that has been to a HJMS game the last 2 years. I was the one with the bells, horns and the huge drum. I know what a difference it makes to the boys. wink.gif Sometimes it is what keeps them going. In fact, I wish that PC had the same kind of support in the stands that the EP boys have. I have watched many boys grow up at rec level to play football at many different schools in the county. My wish is for all Paulding schools to do well this season.

There are two styles of play in most sports. Big and strong and small and fast. If you make the field soggy you can take the speed out of the other team.

The best example I can give is basketball, you can get nets that allow the ball to go through, you hear the "rip" sound and that benefits the fast break teams. If your team is more deliberate on defense and offense you put up the narrow "grabs and holds the ball" nets slowing down the fast break teams ability to quickly inbound the ball and beat your defense down the court. Keeps your big slow guys from getting winded chasing the speedy fast break teams.

I sat on the PCHS side for the game last year, wearing my Raider gear. The PCHS fans were great to me. PC should consider reducing the size of the reserved seat section until the program revives, and it will, I didn't like seeing that big empty space in the middle of a great stadium. I wish the best to all PC teams this year. This thread was started by someone excited about their team this season and unfortunately turned into a cat fight about things we fans have no control over, I apologize to the OP for the way this thread turned out.

LOL, you PC fans are crazy. I want to know what the heck the EP fans did that was so rude during the EP - PC game last year. On our side, it looked as though we were all having a great time, don't see how, cause we were all packed in there like a can of sardines cause PC has such little away side stands. But please tell us all about the acts of rudeness by all the EP fans, cause I am just wanting to know along with the rest of us.

I was at the game last year and saw no evidence of rudeness on the part of EP fans. Unless you consider loudly sheeering for the team to be rude.

It is amazing that one full year after the game there is still squabbling going on about it. I find it hard to believe that the PC coaching staff would stoop so low as to water down the field days beofre the game, but if they did it was just an act of desperation to get a win. Almost as desperate as choosing to play a AA school to open the season just to try and get a opening win.

At any rate this has gotton old, and I really don't think anyone cares any more. No amount of crying will bring the battle of Dallas back and no amount of bad mouthing PC's coaching staff will make them any better. Eventually PC will hire a coach to turn their program around.

Can't we just leave it alone and hope for a good season for all the boys on both team's sake?

Its a shame that we can't have a topic about PCHS without someone from EPHS bashing the coach or saying how hard it will still be for us to compete at 4A. Support would go a lot further than critizing. We the fans/player don't choose the coach so what good does it do. Maybe all the EPHS people could e mail their complaints to Segars or Sauls.

As far as i know, we have been playing Rockmart in our Jamboree for the last 3 years my daughter has been at the school. Our 1st season game last year was against EPHS and we lost by 1.

We do need to do something about the reserved seat section. We should let the band sit there. And as far as our visitors stands being small and you are squished like sardines )i do believe that is what was said), then stay at home, if you don't like it or bring a chair

Sorry PC can't get the fans to follow they to away games, but as far as the band goes, most of the time the first rain drop has them running, most the time faster then the PC football players

I never refered to the bleachers in my post. You appaer to be mixed up.

you dont need to go there, leave the players out of this.
if you want to get on here and comment on the coaches, thats one thing, but the players and band members deserve to be left out of it.
you are entitled to your opinion on the coaches and administration but the kids have nothing to do with either of them.

for the record i believe in the coaches at pchs, it has been hard but you have to look at it like this.

when ephs opened they took half the pchs kids. when hhs opened they pulled from pchs and east. when sphs opened they pulled from pchs and hhs. when nphs opened they pulled from pchs and ephs.
pchs is the only high school effected by every opening, they have lost alot of talent but if you go to practice then you will see the talent is coming especially in the underclassmen. that is not to say there isnt talent in the upperclassmen but i believe special talent is on the way.
give the coaches a chance and things will turn around.
its not perfect and maybe somethings could be done different but i bet you can say that about every coaching staff including the great and powerful oz(coach reid)

To put down 14 - 18 year old kids is wrong! mad.gif The band, football team, and cheerleaders work hard every day to make good grades, stay out of trouble, and be good role models for their school. Your statement shows a lack of character. These are our kids! They are growing up in Paulding County just like your kids dry.gif

Okay, I don't have a kid at PCHS or EPHS, so I'm not taking sides, but how does watering the field have anything to do with anything? Wouldn't the PCHS players have to play on the same muddy field that the EPHS boys played on? Why would anyone think this was somehow done to spite the EPHS players????

it's an old trick, just like not cutting the grass and leaving it long.a wet field does away w/ the speed advantage and shifts the possible "mojo"to the strong,slow,3 yards and a cloud of dust type team.by having the field wet and sloshy,it nullified the raiders speed advantage at the skill positions.
