Please go back and read my post, I am sorry if you misunderstood. I never called any of those kids cowards, I said Sauls was a coward for running from playing the battle of Dallas annual game. Isaid those boys did not deserve that because Sauls did not give them a say in the decision not to play East anymore. Its not the kids thats cowardly its Sauls, He was quoted as saying that he would not play the game anymore because he could not afford to lose his first game of the season becausehis team would never recover from another loss to EAST.
Again let me make my self clear those players are not cowards they are great kids and atheletes and had they been given a say in the matter Iknow that they would have chose to continue to play the BATTLE OF DALLAS. SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION.

They are great kids and athletes. If you have a beef with Sauls, I am OK with that. But the boys had no say and should not be brought into this. They are kids. I also wonder how much of it is Segers.
This is the 2nd year of Undefeated MS Championship Players that are coming up from HJ this year. Some good football players. I hope that Sauls can continue what Coach Nape started over at Jones.
My son proudly wore a jersey with Ken Phillips initials on it for 2 years.

I hope not LR. I have seen many of these boys that my son grew up playing football with grow up to play for many different HS's in Paulding. They ALL deserve to have a good season.

i think pc will probably win more games than last year just look at the schedule, they should beat osborne, haralson county, and woodland.
they have a 50/50 chance or better against, south paulding, hiram and hillgrove but thet could lose all those games as well, but none of them should be blow outs either way.
pc only won 3 last year so they should easily eaqual that.
i think east could lose as many as 4 or as few as 1 depending on how they face tough games every week.
that will be the difference from the past 2 seasons. it is easy for a well coached talented team to get up for a big game every three weeks but how will they sustain that this year over the entire schedule, week after week.
it will be fun to watch, i hope they do well.
east opens the season with 4 tough games in a row with rome, south cobb, mceachern, and marietta. then they play etowah which will be a tough one as well, then they play, north cobb and harrison back to back.
its going to be tough but it can be done.
say what you want about sauls, i dont agree with dropping the east game and i think he made a mistake by scheduling pepperell the first week, but i think the team will do better than the last few seasons.
dont get so hyped up on the hjms kids moving to pc as some sign that the tide is turning in pc's favor.
those teams werent that well coached but then again none of the middle school teams are well coached and all you have to do is ask any unbiased observer and they will tell you that.
they were well behaved thats about all i will give that coach credit for.
dont put too much stock into winning the paulding county championship, look at the competition.
the kids that play at east didnt win squat in middle school except for one year at moses. that group is just now juniors.
they recieved good coaching once they got to high school and now you see it.
i hope sauls coaches his kids up, i hope dorsey coaches his kids up, i hope glanton coaches his kids up and i hope webb coaches his kids up.
i want to see all the paulding teams do well and with the success they have had at east i know it is possible.
its not like east has all the good players and the other schools have none.
build you team through hard work and character, and the talent will conform to that but build your team through talent and forget the hard work and character and you will doom your program.
that may be some programs faults now.

I too, hope all the Paulding County teams do well. I am not "hyped" or taking it as a "sign" that it will turn the tide...just hopeful. I also realize that HS football is an entirely different ballgame than MS football. I would, however, have to disagree on the coaching at Jones. The 8th grade has gone undefeated for the last 2 years and the 7th went undefeated their first season. 24 games without a loss. Yes, they were well behaved and disciplined, but their hard work and character made them winners. Coach Nape built that and the team conformed.

The head coach seems to know a good defensive scheme, but as far as being a leader, I hear many negative things about his leadership abilites... I don't mind it if the boys get beat, but the many of our losses can't be blamed on the players. The coaches seem to be lacking in talent.
I didn't mean to vent about the coaches, but getting whipped year after year is NO FUN! If the Patriots could win 5 games, I'm sure half of Dallas would be excited.

Even though my boys go to PCHS and one of my sons plays football, I still pull for EPHS because many of the kids I coached at New Hope play there and I want them to have success just as I will for NPHS when they are at full strength.
I just hope PCHS has a little more success than the others for selfish reasons.

IMO, the football programs at the Paulding schools would benefit greatly by joining the North Georgia Football League and getting away from staying in-county and having the middle schools only compete against one another. Currently, you've got kids on middle school teams who will attend and play at different high schools playing against future team mates at another middle school that feeds the same varsity program. I can't figure out why this hasn't been done yet, unless the "higher ups" are against such a move. I would think Coach Dorsey at Hiram would be a huge proponent of doing so- he's seen first-hand how it helps build a program.
The NGFL is made up of almost 30 teams; all of the Cobb, Cherokee and North Fulton public schools are represented in the league. Rome and Chapel Hill also recently joined. The Paulding schools are easily within proximity and the league typically places teams in geographic divisions. Player participation is determined by high school district, regardless of what middle school he attends (or if he is private schooled or home schooled). With this setup, the scheme and philosophy of the varsity program can begin being implemented at the 6th grade level...which flattens the learning curve immensely by the time they reach high school, allowing the varsity staff to spend less time teaching scheme, fundamentals, and especially working together as a unit once they come up to high school. I haven't seen any posts pushing this idea, but it's something to think about.

I would imagine that that would be up to the County Athletic Director. From what I understand, he does not put much stock into MS athletics. Too bad. There are many talented middle school athletes.

For years, the opinion of Paulding County over here has been that all the pieces needed for varsity athletic success are in place...except for support and understanding from the County Office. Sadly, it sounds like that hasn't changed much yet.

Yup...Their philosophy is that it is "just middle school sports". It is sad. Minimal funding and no support or understanding. Very impressional age too.

I do support all paulding schools, Thats why I keep trying to get rid of those two cowards SAULS AND SEAGARS AND IT WOULD GIVE PC A CHANCE TO HIRE A NEW PRINCPLE AND HEAD FOOTBALL COACH. You Patriot fans should be demanding the same, Ive got a feeling you will after this season. Your students and players deserve better!

Wild mama-
I reckon you had a bad experience with NGFL...mine were all good, MUCH better than pound ball (NGYFL, which can be daddy ball to the hilt). From talking to parents I know in other districts (Harrison, Hillgrove, North Cobb), I know some programs have some daddy ball happening at the junior program/middle school level...but nothing like the lower levels. For a long time at McEachern, fathers were not even allowed to coach a team their son participated on. Generally, the varsity coaches are highly involved in the junior program teams, as it is their future players that are being prepared for Friday nights. Our 6th, 7th and 8th grade teams condition like the varsity, drill like the varsity, and run offensive/defensive schemes like the varsity. By the time their reach high school, they can do it in their sleep.
From reading several responses on various PC forums, it seems there is an overwhelming desire to get away from the middle school versus middle school league that presently exists in PC, which is not related to a player's future high school program.

Harrison is the school that I've heard the most "daddy-ball" complaints about, and they do seem to have it structured so that the youth coaches work their way up along with a new class to the junior program level. Folks tell me it's all about how much money you contribute over there. I know of a couple of players who lacked both size and speed, yet still started. I don't understand how any coach at any level would sell out to the point of not playing his best talent; it can cost you wins and, eventually, your position. I've actually been told this is even the case on the VARSITY team- a cheerleader's mama told me that "XXXX's kids will play without a doubt, after all the money he gave to build the field house." Unbelievable. Hopefully, she's got her rumors wrong.
IMO, overall the junior program setup is absolutely the best means to prepare a class of kids for the future Friday night battles. If there's a better way, I have neither heard nor seen it. When you just have middle schools playing each other, whose high school system do you run if some of the kids will go to EP and some will go to NP? Who do their coaches get their direction from? Seems it could be a much bigger daddy-ball problem.
