My mom was a para for both Jackie Cobb and Reba Yoda. She owrked at McGarity when Floyd Shelton was there and also Mrs. Welch. I was just wondering if she ever taught your kids. I don't know if her name was Ms. Sosebee or Ms. Gazaway then since she got remarried.

I think I remember the name Ms. Gazaway but I don't know if she was a para for either teacher when my girls went but then again it was a long time ago. My girls are 26 and 21.

That prob would have been about the time she was there. I am 32 and she was there when I went there plus many more years later!

i went to school in east cobb so i figured my favorite teacher didn't count so much.

Ralph Simpson---Mainstreet Elem. (Stone Mtn)----he's a principal at one of the HS's in Dekalb now.

Diane Copeland---Columbia HS (Decatur)

Both inspired me in ways I'll never be able to put into words.

Mr. Simpson used to make us repeat sayings as a class every day until we memorized them....15 years later I can still remember most of them.

Respect yourself.
I am somebody.
The me I see is the me I'll be.
Down with dope, up with hope.
I am happy, I am healthy, I am hopeful.
If it's to be it's up to me.
Shoot for the moon, and if you don't hit the moon, at least you'll land amongst the stars.
Every day, in every way, I'm getting better and better.
(there are a few more, but I can't quite remember them)

OMG...she had her little one when I was in her class...sheesh, talk about making someone feel old!!!

If it makes you feel any better, one of my HS English teachers was the first person who ever told me I had a gift for writing - an affirmation that is with me to this day.

Thanks, Mrs. Burel, wherever you are! wub.gif

I had Ms. Bishop for kindergarten. I was in her first class right out of college, and she still recognizes me when I run into her at Relay for Life!!! wub.gif She was with Mrs. Waters when I had her, and they were awesome together!!

I graduated from EPHS in 2001, and I had some great teachers there. I, too, loved Mrs. Templeton, plus Mr. Ponder, Mr. Ferguson, and Mrs. Hudson. Mrs. Hudson was a big inspiration for me to become a nurse. She was my anatomy teacher, and she nominated me for a 2-week medical program at Emory my senior year. It had a huge impact on my career choice!!

Ms. Roedeller(spelling wrong prounounced like Road ler); she was my first grade teacher at Hollydale Elementary. When I was substitute teaching back between 95-97 I ran into her at a school in Smyrna she was the principal. Her new name is Mrs. Paine or Payne. I would love to tell her that after all these years she still makes an impression on me and she is one of the reasons I am working on becoming an educator. In case your out there, "Thanks Ms.Roedeler/Mrs. Paine!"

Also, Ms. Whelan was also extra special.

Ms. Whelan is a good friend of mine and she is fantastic. She was my son's Sunday School teacher so I can only imagine her in a classroom. Wonderful person!!

My son's kindergarten teacher would have to be my favorite, Kimberly Thompson from Allgood Elementary! She was so great considering I had pulled my child out of a private Kindergarten and put him in public. So he was only with her for the second half and it was great! She has now become a life long friend of our family! We will always remember how wonderful she was to our son and to us!! wub.gif

My husband had her too and credits her with his graduation because if it hadn't been for her "encouragement" he would have failed her class. She was a nice woman. I didn't know Mr. Bowman had passed. I will have to tell my mom. My husband and I both went to McEachern. Class of '88 and Class of '89

Okay here is my high school list of favorite and life changing teachers:
Coach Davis: I loved this man! He was like having a daddy for my teacher. I was dating a guy, okay man, that was 21 and I was 16 going on 17. I had met him at work and Coach Davis had taught him. Coach Davis always tried to tell me when I spoke of him that I was too young. But in a nice teacherly way! He talked to us about making good decision.

Mr. Arroyo: I had him for World Geography. Saw him years ago when my 17 year old was playing little league soccer! Great to see him! He is a wonderful photographer as well as a great teacher.

Mrs. Wiltshire

Ms. Wheeler: I think her first name was Donna. She was a church going woman; Mt. Paran I think and talk alot about God! She was a great teacher and friend to all of us students. Okay she was an adult friend she was not on our level.

Ms. Todd: she was my business/typing teacher

Oh and Ms. Margaret Johnson. I truly love this woman. If it had not been for her patience and kindness I would not be as good at math as I am.

Mr. Darnell: he saved my academic neck and hooked me up with Ms. Johnson for math! I think he was a minister.

and too others that meant alot to me that I cannot remember their names. One was a Spanish teacher and became an administrator and then a principle at Tapp and then a man with jet black hair and very tall he was a teacher at MHS then a counselor. He definately was a pastor of a church in Powder Springs. Both of these I also credit with giving me a desire to teach.

My children's favorite teachers (and mine).

With 4 children, it is extremely hard to pick just a few. I will give it a try though.

5th grade (Shelton, then Russom) Mrs Mincey/Dixon. I believe she was a 1st year techer with my now 18 year old, then my daughter had her year before last. She is an awesome teacher anda great peron! We have been extremely blessed to have had her guide 2 of our children.

8th (Moses MS) Mr Tibbitts. We were so sad to find out he's retiring. I have 2 more children to go through 8th and was hoping at least one them would have him. Heis a very special man and we will miss him.

Administrators: I have had the pleasure of dealing with some awesome men and women through the years. Stan Ingram is,without a doubt, one of the most fair and honest people I have EVER come across. But the one whom I have just absolutely loved and still makes me smile when I see him is Cliff Cole. I was so pleased he was part of our Graduation ceremony yesterday. He helped see my son off to middle school, as his elementary principle, then was there to see him off into higher education. It just felt right.
Mr. Tibbits is he the same Mr. Tibbits that was from Australia? My son had a Mr. Tibbits for 5th that he just loved; however, he was from Australia and we thought we were told he was going back. This was at Allgood Elem. 5 years ago.
I really COULD go on and on about SO many teachers , admin, and staff that I have had the pleasure of meeting over the last 13 years. many of them very near and dear to my heart.

One of my favorite teachers at Hollydale elementary is Ms. Rhodes. In junior high, it is Coach Crowe or Dr. Crowe to some people and Coach Davies. At EPHS there were a couple. One being Ms. Gilbert (she told the best stories), Coach Matthews, and Ms. Talley, now Dr. Talley.
