don't know if I should be more impressed with EPHS on an good win, or be
amazed at how good LaFayette really was. Honest, I was not expecting
LaFayette to have much, but they weren't bad at all.

EPHS played well, very well, despite missing some key players. In fact,
EPHS had a hard shot on goal in the 1st minute of play from the left wing
that sailed high. EPHS took shot after shot (6th, 7th, 8th minutes) before
giving up a Penalty Kick to LaFayette that converted.

EPHS then tied the score 2 minutes later with a lob shot over the keeper's
head from the right wing (Chas Henry).

The 2nd goal for EPHS came in the 63rd minute on a direct rifle shot from
about 7 yards out, despite the EPHS player being mugged by the defender (I
thought the EPHS player's jersey was going to pulled off before the shot).

LaFayette put up a tough fight with plenty of good shots on goal. Many
were just wide or high but you gotta give the EPHS defense credit: they
held up well.

LaFayette fans were talking playoffs & desperately needed a win over
EPHS before facing Dalton & Rome. EPHS played with some determination
to keep LaFayette in a sour mood for a while.

EPHS center midfielder is strong & the defense made some good outside
plays to keep the "bad guys in orange" frustrated.

Weaknesses exploited --- cooler heads need to prevail at times when rough
play ensues. That cost EPHS a yellow card & several unneeded direct
kicks. But to be fair, the Ramblers were playing rough & the EPHS
players got caught more than the LaFayette players did.
In the 10th minute EPHS scored when a LaFayette defender deflected a shot
on goal & Rachel Dudding buried the ball in the net.
The next EPHS goal came in the 75th minute & that finalized the EPHS
victory.
It was cold up there in LaFayette. Kudos to those parents that stayed to
see both games. Good games, but it was late.
