EPHS Girls JV over Carrolton 2-Nil
This match was closer than the score indicates. Carrolton defense & speed were tough, but a goal by Jesse Webster & another by Kristin Canal sent Carrolton JV girls home in defeat.
Jamie Gard made some terrific saves to secure the EPHS victory & Sierra Kent's defensive play at sweeper prevented shots on goal.
Ashley Hicks, EPHS JV forward, said the match "was really close and was up and down the field all night." Ashley added: "Jamie Gard (keeper) kept us in this game."
EPHS Varisty Girls Defeat Carrolton 2-Nil
Same score as JV. Same story. Great defense by Jessica Mitchell at sweeper kept the Carrolton attack far from the goal. In fact, EPHS had 5 shots on goal in the first 12 minutes of play, including one corner kick that was a header on goal but hit the cross bar. It wasn't until the 14th minute of play that the EPHS keeper even touched the ball on a slow roller toward goal. One minute later, a quick counter, initiated by the sweeper Jessica Mitchell, produced the first EPHS goal in the 15th minute. A strong shot by the midfield deflected off the crossbar & right winger Katlyn Sperry buried the ball in the corner of the goal as the Carrolton keeper wasn't even able to move in time to attempt a save.
Still in the 1st half of play, Rachel Dudding scored off a through pass from the center mid in the 27th minute.
The rest of the game was uneventful, until the 70th minute when Carrolton was awarded an indirect kick in the box. The lob shot was easily saved by the EPHS keeper.
Carrolton followed that up with a strong shot from 25 yards out in the 71st minute, but a quick deflection by the EPHS keeper gave Carrolton a corner kick. The kick was easily handled by EPHS & the girls secured the victory.
Great job, ladies!

Thanks for the report.
Again, let me encourage you to take some pictures
... they'd make the story look so much better on the front.
Do note that the story (with some minor edits) did make the front, though

Had the camera with me --- wifey had the memory sticks with her. She uses my wallet like an ATM & anything else she happens to find laying around the car.
