Bad intersections and very slick roads*wrecks*

Recommended Posts
I am very very grateful for the BEST bus driver in the world for getting my kid home safe & sound within 20 minutes today!!

My grandsons go to Baggett and they got home safe and sound without much delay. They had to be let out at the entrance to the subdivision and walk down, but they didn't mind at all!! God bless all the bus drivers. They are doing the best they can.

I live in Paulding but teach in Douglas.....I along with many other teachers and staff and about 400 students are settling in for the night at New Manchester High School. We just heard that a bus of approx. 30 students is returning to us now because they can't get anywhere.

Just got back to New Hope from 278 & Wayside Lane. The roads are very passable if you use commons sense. It too me 4 1/2 hours to go round trip thanks to the pesky 18 wheeler at the merge onto 278.

Anyone know if Hwy 92 South is open From Due West Road to Hwy 120E?

My husband is picking my neighbor's wife at the CVS over there. There are couple of slick spots though.

Very bad. He needs to find someplace to stay. Do you have any friends close to where he is at?

There is a lot of "activity" on the scanner about Hiram Sudie near Davis Mill RD if that's where Settler' Mill is.

Folks have been having trouble on Hiram Sudie all day. That hill going to Settlers Mill and Davis Mill has had traffic at a stand still in front of our house all day. I am barely hearing anything go by now.

I know earlier that somebody said Bill Carruth was closed, but you have the same problem with that hill right before Hiram Sudie.

My husband is trying to get to Bill Carruth to park at the new hospital or water dept. so he can walk home but just can't seem to get anywhere.

He has been on the road trying to get home since noon from Marietta.

What a terrible mess this is for so many people still out there. :(

I can say he does not want to go Whitlock or get on Dallas Hwy up that far. Groups of drivers are getting stuck everywhere from The Avenues area toward Hiram.

Can he go 278 to Harris Loop, Winndale, Davis Mill Road?

I tagged the wrong person. Wenfen, he may have better luck taking these side roads.

When my son was out this afternoon, he said that the side roads were actually in much better shape than the main roads. He just said it was idiot folks that were causing the problems (and they were the ones he was pulling out of ditches!!).

Too many inclines on Davis Mill. He has learned to stay on the main roads as much as possible because of police and salt trucks.

Cobb county rocks, an officer just got them free from the mess with a salt truck and giving them a push to get them started again.

Now they are stuck again on Dallas Hwy right before the red light at Mars Hill Rd.

Even the smallest incline is icy and shuts them down.

Papi is off to try to rescue the girl child and a coworker and her husband.

Her last parent just picked up after leaving Atlanta at 1 this afternoon.

NINE and and half hours for this parent to get from Atlanta to Bill Carruth!

I'm going to be a nervous wreck till he gets back!

He's going 5 miles to Children's Palace on Bill Carruth and then 5 miles back.

...groan........

I'm sitting at home with a 4x4 truck, wishing that I could help people who are stranded in the area. 4WD doesn't help much on ice, but it's still much better on these roads than 2WD vehicles (I have driven both today.)

ok, hubby and BIL are home - safe & sound. Had to leave the truck at the front of the hood & walk home.

I still have friends trying to get home though.

Does anyone know with certainty if East Paulding is closed?

Or what 120 looks like going to 278?

The attempt is to get from E/W Conn (Barrett) to Mt. Olivet Rd
There is a Facebook page set up for anyone needing shelter for the night. If you have loved ones that aren't going to make it home tonight, look here: https://www.facebook...97839673695382/
That page makes me proud of the good folks we have in the ATL. Awesome!
