How bad is 50 shades?

Recommended Posts

I'm kinda liking the story line. The erotica part is pretty good. There is a story line though contrary to the reviews of some. It depends on what you like to read. The first few chapters are hard to get through...the writing did get better in my opinion.

OMG. I got a sample on my Kindle. I tried soooooo hard to read it. It was turrible. Maybe I should just get to the sex. IDK. I expect a 6th grade to write better than that.

I felt the same way after I got the sample...but then everyone kept talking about it so I bought it.

It really does get better in my opinion.

I read it half way through and then started another book and never finished it. I could see there was a story line somewhere in there but if you took away all the very descriptive sex scenes the book could have been written in about 3-4 pages. My opinion was that it was the shock factor that kept me reading it as long as I did.

I've had two friends tell me that they love both th erotica and the storyline. I'm going to borrow a copy from oneof them and see what it's all about.

I have not read the book, only the reviews, which make me not want to bother buying it. If you are looking for a great erotica book series, try the sleeping beauty trilogy by Anne Rice, written uner the pseudonym of A. N. Roquelaure. It is incredibly erotic, but the writing is fantastic as well.

I don't pay too much attention to reviews, I like to form my own opinions. I liken it to not listening to others gossip about people I don't know,I'd rather get toknow them and decide for myself. :)

BLONDIE CAN I BUY IT AND TRY IT WHEN YOUR DONE???

Well honey boo, I would sell it to you, but it's downloaded on my iPad.

It got a little better as far as story line in the second book, but by the time you get to the third book, they are back doing it every 5 pages.

Sigh...........I just want to get through it so I don't feel like I spent the money in vain.

It actually kind of warms my heart when folks get duped when they do things just because everybody else is.

I did not jump because everyone else was jumping.

From what I have seen, some people really seemed to like these books.

Upon their suggesting, I thought I would read them too.

Isn't that how you get a book recommendation???

I have types of books and authors I like to read and I typically stick with it.

I'm not immune to peer pressure, I had to learn my lesson with DaVinci Code. Never again.

I liked DaVinci code.

And I like to get my mind open to different genres of books, so I will take recommendations all the time.

Glad I did or I may have never read RIVER OF DOUBT, Theodore Roosevelt's Darkest Journey.

That's usually how I get a good book recommendation.

It's really not good.

Only reason I keep trying to get through it is because I PAID for this damn series!

I'm just that stubborn too,lol!

I have read the triology. And I would flip through alot of pages. It really could just be 1 book. Lots of the same.

Wife picked it up the other day and read through it. She said after the intial sex "scene" it's like bad porn, the same thing over and over and over again. She felt like she wasted 15 bucks. I picked it up to see what the fuss was about. Honestly, I don't get what the big deal is. There was better sex in the novel version of Basic Instinct (which is actually a great crime book)

And now there are already copycat books/authors out there.

Back in the day, these used to be known as Harliquin novels. My mom still reads them. They used to sound something like, "He grabbed her cheek, pulled her mouth towards his, sweat seeping through is shirt from mowing the grass, and kissed her with an intensity that ravaged her body and literally, weakened her knees."

Now they read:

"He pulled her by the hair into his bare chest, his man parts throbbing between her soaking legs, and whispered in her ear that he wanted to own her forever. She couldn't help but imagine how much she would enjoy giving him daily pleasure - a welcome break from her mundane existence."

Awesome message for today's budding youth.
