Extending the Life of Your Carpet

There are three things you can do to extend the life of your carpet:

1) VACUUM, VACUUM, VACUUM. Like any other fiber, carpet will last longer with the proper maintenance. Frequent vacuuming will keep abrasive soils from cutting and prematurely wearing the carpet fibers.

2) Avoid using carpet cleaning processes and spot cleaners with a soapy, powdery, or foamy base. They leave a residue in the carpet fibers. Soapy spots have a tendency to yellow and leave sticky residue that resoils quickly (aka "reappearing stains"). That's the reason you thoughly rinse after shampooing your hair -- to ensure no sticky residue is left behind.

3) If you do not have any of our CitruSolution spot cleaner -- spot cleaning is best accomplished by using a 50/50 solution of white vinegar/water. Vinegar will not create a toxic environment in your home. There are some exceptions....Use COLD water on bloodspots. Try white wine to clean red wine spills, after blotting up as much of the spill as possible. Kool-aid spots, medicine spills, and other food dyes must be blotted from the carpet and rised as much as possible. May spots can be removed with the proper and timely treatment. Call us for advice before attempting to clean the area.
